Hey guys I ve got a problem or problems with my 1995 ts Magna
When starting it up it idles rough and stalls.. Tap the throttle a few times and it goes but today when taking it for a drive it started chucking a skits
It's was back firing badly stalled twice
Wasn't getting to full power (foot flat to floor) also it does have a dicky air flow meter but I know there has to be more wrong surely??
Really need ideas on what it could be :)

do you have a repair manual
yes a silly MAF can cause a splutter
but could be something else like a sensor
the idle control valve can also cause this fault
some people may say slipped tooth on the timing belt
if you thinks its electrical you can get the codes of this model with a test light at the diagnostic plug

this is a 4cylinder not a v6
And I do have the manual but to be honest
It sounded spark plug related or fuel filter?? The way it missed and backfired no power when putting throttle down :/ but cheers for the ideas really appreciate it :)

ahh I like 4 cyls better
timing chains whooot
Info
the maf on a 4 cyl will only buck and kick under load going up a hill
may stall but should start again straight away
missfire can be the connection at the distributor - it corrodes or bends the pins
a dissy module either works or not ... the coil exciter beside the coil can play up
make sure the idle steeper motor retracts on start up
then you have the dissy cap itself how old are the leads and plugs
injector cleaner helps
forgot how many km a service should include the fuel filter

The leads are I believe over 5 months old and the spark plugs are around 3-4 months old I looked at them and they are black with a little white burn on the spark tip
I know I put another dissy cap on over 5 months ago but it's only just started this backfiring misfiring phase around 2 months ago after I had a big service done on it and the air flow meter I think may need to be replace because it's blown out the middle grill part :/ I guess having a pod filter on it finally did some damage hahah

spark / firing order must be ok then
a maf is a bit expensive -- try a wrecker for one ..a maf has a few functions for an EFI system
. if a better maf doent fx this
next check , fuel flow- pressure regulator or injectors dirty
...
so sad you have a pod filter:gfight:
