I had the timing belt tensioner go on me, so i swapped the belt at the same time (difference between belt and no belt was $60) so $740 all up.
Got my reverse sensors in the mail, but i'm working so many hours i've had no time to hook them up.
Filled the tank 2 weeks ago and i've still got 1/2 left.
That's all from me.

I forgot to renew the rego when I had money, so now it's going to expire Saturday (stupid job market. Been applying for jobs for two months now).
On the up side, I have all of the parts needed for my custom phone mount project, so there is that. I'll tinker with that eventually and get it rocked out.
After I get a job, I'm going to fix the rear bumper skin (gouged the side of it up something good), and put a spoiler on it along with the chrome boot lid trim piece.

I know a couple of the guys up here have used Opti-Coat. It's a ceramic coating that is clear and goes rock hard, putting something between your paint and everything that hits it. A guy i work with picked up a brand new Ralliart Lancer and the paint was atrocious - swirls, scratches and the like. After he had the paint corrected and the Opti-Coat applied it looks amazing. I'm seriously considering having the paint on the Blue Beast brought up to pristine and then having the car treated. It's about $700 for a full vehicle.

Leave the paint to breathe for a month after painting, depending on what paints were used the paint breathes out solvents when drying completely. Have seen paint fogged up because of this and be careful with what you wash it with, use a ph neutral shampoo only.

Well I've just hooked up a 4ch amp under the passenger's seat and upgraded the stock speakers , also added some sound deadener to the front doors and under the floor carpet.
Still need to finish the boot set-up as I'm doing a fiberglass sub box .........................but some bills came up (car Rego / insurance, water....) therefore no more funds to buy more fiberglass :( just have to wait.....
Last month I did the car service and painted the calipers and still need to install the braided brakes hoses (maybe this weekend)

Paid out the loan so now looking for simple mods to do. I've got my timing belt service coming up so that will happen first, but then I'll be interested in doing the light engine mods (intake, filter, maybe exhaust). Maybe do a stereo install at a later stage.

I have a brand new K&N here if you're looking for one. I haven't decided whether or not to use it myself, but i'm in no rush to swap it over......and on that note, i also have a standard air box and intake sitting in the corner of my garage. If anyone needs it let me know or else it'll hit the bottom of the recycling bin.

Disconnected and reconnected the battery this morning after she threw a "check engine" light following a failed start. So, new battery this weekend, I guess...
And of course, the radio code was wiped when I disconnected the battery, and the previous owner very helpfully didn't write it down anywhere.

Just visit your local dealer and get them to tell you the code. You will need to provide proof of ownership of vehicle and provide its VIN.

New front hubs today. What a difference they make. The steering has tightened right up, the steering wheel shudder that kicked in at 40kmh has gone, the road noise is appreciably less (although i must admit that the crap tyres i have on at the minute don't help there). I've only done 6000k's since i bought it in November last year and the amount of miles i'm currently doing the damn things will still be on the wheels when i send the car to the scrap dealer. Many many years ago in coldtoria, every taxi you saw had Falken tyres - mainly because the bloody things lasted for ever and i think these things will too. I was looking at the Bridgestone site last night and it looks like they're retiring the RE002's for a new RE003. Has anyone tried them yet?
On the other hand, i'll probably never need to replace the hubs or the timing belt again, so that's a bonus.

Geez Andrew, that's a helluva lot in only 6 weeks!
Good to see someone really looking after their 380, and especially the rare GTL.
Yep, that noisy purge valve is a pest of a thing and $140 for a new one is a rip-off, but if you're a perfectionist (and it seems like you are) then you have no choice but to get a new one.
You could always go to a wreckers and get a used one fairly cheap, but of course there is a good chance it will be just as noisy!

-New D-bushes - got rid of knocking noise and tightened up the ride.
-Replaced door trims, gear knob & handbrake lever from a GT.
-Installed sub and wired FM Modulator (on clearance sale from Jaycar) - highly recommend it. Although I've come across another way to get an AUX input which connects into the sort of "ISO connector/wires" behind the head unit. Can't for the life of me at the moment remember the proper name nor company which makes them but can get them when home (at work now) if anyone is interested.
-Installed VRX tail lights but have to have the spoiler painted so will get around to that eventually.
-Decided to get into the habit of being anal with washing it so bought a lamb's wool mit, 2 big buckets and am in the process of ordering 2 x grit guards. Somewhat useless to start now I know but am looking at having the car cut and polished by timelesscarcleaning. Although a few other paint restorations techniques have been mentioned in this thread so have to look into those.
-Steering wheel cover :)

Well the service report just says 'front D bushes'. Any googling I do of that, 'sway bar' keeps popping up so I'd say they are the sway bar mounting bushes.

I put new sway bar bushes on my 380 on the advice of some members here, to cure a creak or groan in my front suspension. It was a real pig of a job to access the bolts with the required forces on ramps.
Cured it for less than 48 hours, then it came back loud as ever.
At a subsequent service, mentioned it to Mitsubishi and they retorqued "cross member bolts" wherever they are, and problem disappeared for good.
Over and under torqued wheel nuts can do same.

Couldn't help myself put a GLT badge on the front grill very happy with the look I have seen a couple of GT owners do this which gave me the inspiration
Replaced the 660cc fuel injectors with 850cc on the GT.
This will enable a tune to around 310kw at the wheels, up from 271.

Wolfie's baby... i.e. the 380 VRX. a week of catastrophic bad luck for me and my family... personal issues mostly, but now the car too...
service today... fluids, filters, spark plugs x6, new ECV valve to stop ticking.... and to investigate shocks, and (ready for it) investigate a suspicious knocking noise from what i thought was the passenger front brake. wasn't the front brake, or anything to do with brakes... turned out to be the planetary gear in the transmission on it's way out! *bangs head on desk in despair* so now the 380 is more or less a ticking time bomb. means broke Wolfie now needs to come up with like 1500 bucks for trans swap... *sighs*
aside from that white noise, car runs soooooo mint now with new sparks and bits, and ecv done.... ^_^ half happy Wolfie.

Should have gotten osram nightbreaker unlimited. Just put a pair in wife's Outlander and it has made a huge difference.
Had not heard about them maybe Ill give em a shot for the fog lights or high beam
AFAIK, they are only avaable for lows or low/hi combos. I wanted one for the hi on my Pajero to closely match the colour of HID but none were available. I get them via eBay Oz seller. They are the new gen of the old night breaker. The older ones were sold as narva blue power but narva have not started selling the rebadged unlimited. The old one is similar to Philips x-treme vision. I can post up photos of the unlimited vs HID if people want.
Here are a few photos:
My Pajero with factory 35W 4000K HID:

The Osram actually looks quite white, not as white as 4000K but better than the standard yellow light and is noticeably brighter than the Philips X-Treme Vision that was in there before.

It's got more dog hair on the dash than the dog has on her head. I can see more than a few hours being spent vacuuming, cleaning, polishing and waxing this weekend.
I got some Rainex for the windscreen a couple of weeks ago but it's covered in oily shite and road grime. I've got some vinegar here to help get the oil off, but has anyone got any better suggestions to cut back the grease and grime?

Too late for me to check out the Osrams.Just installed Phillips extreme visions +130,H7 and H4.They seem noticeably brighter than the stockies,to be expected I spose.
Light is nice and white but I noticed they scatter a bit more.
Also ordered a Polaris HUD from Ebay,Love me gadgets.
Yep, had the Philips X-treme on the Outlander before and had to adjust the headlamps downwards so much to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. I think there is a flaw in the placement of the filament. In the end, because I had to lower the beams so much, they ended up not much better than stock. The Osram on the otherhand (which is supposedly the worlds brightest legal fitment halogen bulb) has no such issues. Nice white light and noticeably brighter and longer beam.

Been a bit of a slow few weeks
Received the new mats with GTL embroidery of course
repaired the faulty headlight adjuster
cleaned the fog light lenses inside and out
Full headlight and fog light adjustment ( out the back of an industrial estate looking pretty sus)
lined the boot with a 15kg peice of rubber convayer belt ( this has leveled out the 15mm difference in height front to back ) and sounds solid as
Replaced the air intake resonator with 70mm rigid plastic into the inside guard area
Coming soon
maybe a tint on the tails
Berklee muffler
Dobison superlows
insulate the air box and 2 intakes
Painting the lower spoiler grill section fog surrounds and lower bumper section - The only problem with this is that I wanted gloss black along with black wheels but then I saw Kifs 380 GT(which looks awesome) but has the exact same as I was thinking so and we cant have twins any suggestions regarding colour highlights including maybe also the roof and wheels always appreciated Im thinking the dark metallic grey of the front grill
Wheels and tiers for Fathers Day or so im told better be on my best behaviour
hope everyone is well and enjoying their cars

Finished my lower intake and heat shield warping of intakes and air box best part is that it can be withdrawn as a complete unit probably won't give me any gains but had fun making it up from scratch with parts i adapted from around the house I will change out the 90 degree join with a silicone one soon, new wiper blades as well was going to get the areo wipes when I had some spare cash but the drivers side failed so just got some cheap twin blades for now
going for an hour drive soon will see if the heat shield has made a difference usually run 4 degrees above ambient according to dash command via OBD goes through the roof when idling or slow driving

Drove mine for the first time in three and a half months today. Just to and from work. Forgot how heavy it was.
But it's good to be back in it :)

Drained the trans (pulled out the plug and let it all run out). I have no idea what was in there but it was a nice shade of light pink - almost clear - and ran like water. Put in a fresh 5 litres of fluid. Went for a 20 minute drive, came back and drained it again. Put in a fresh 5 litres, I'll give it a week or two and put another 5 litres through it just to finish it off. Interestingly, the guy at the dealer said they don't use the Mitsu fluid, they just use Castrol for everything. The difference in the way the transmission behaves is remarkable. It shifts so cleanly now and the 'slushy' feeling of the auto up and down shifts has gone completely. In tippy mode the changes are crisp and the flaring that was happening has gone. There were a few very small metallic particles stuck to the magnet on the sump plug but nothing i'm too worried about.
Changed the engine oil (went with Penrite 10-40) and filter. Super cheap has Penrite full synthetic 10-40 on sale at $36 for 6 litres. Lifter noise has gone completely and it certainly seems to be running a lot quieter. The sticker on the windscreen is for Hi-Tec oil. That's probably what was in the trans too.
Rotated the tyres and checked out the brakes while i could see them. I was almost at the point where i was going to have the rear hubs/bearings changed because of the noise i could hear. Not just road rumble, genuine noise. The tyres on the car are crap but they were brand new and on the car when i bought it and i'm waiting for them to wear out. The rears were Sailun and the fronts Altenzo (Chinese, sold by Bob Jane) and the Sailuns are on the front and NOW i know why people look at the car when i drive past. They actually whine once you're over 35-40kmh. It sounds like a big washing machine on spin cycle!! I couldn't hear that racket clearly before because all the tyre noise had to come through the body, sound proofing, carpet, seats etc etc. Now they're on the front of the car and it's genuinely uncomfortable driving with the screaming they make. Stay away from this garbage. Any tyre sold in this country must meet a minimum standard. These obviously do, but the one area where they fail would have to be with regard to noise pollution. Sailun tyres - stay away from them!! Bridgestone will be getting a call very soon.

I'd make that call sooner rather than later, as Bridgestone are doing 4 tyres for the price of 3 at the moment. You could get a nice set of Adrenalin RE002s or RE003s :)

002's are all gone, superseded by the 003's about 12 months ago. I've been looking anyway, with a view to getting rid of the garbage laughingly called tyres that are currently fitted but i figured i could wait until they wore out. Unfortunately i only do about 10k a year so these things are still going to be on the car when it's sent to the recyclers :eeek:
My experiences with the 002's made me a lifelong fan, especially on the 380. They were absolutely brilliant tyres, so if the 003 comes even close they will be amazing. From what i've heard about them they're 'sposed to be even better. The downside is that they're only worth 30-40k but the upside is the incredible road holding and no noise. They were without a doubt the quietest tyre i've ever driven on.

Pretty dead here so thought I'd bring some life back :D.
This is kind of going to be what I've done over the past 2 months+.
1. Converted the SX rear tail lights and fitted the lip spoiler and changed the headlights(this was done last year)
2. Got the hood, roof, and bonnet resprayed and de-badged the boot

3. Changed the headlights again because the plastics had become unrepairable and the seals had failed on one side picked up a really good condition set from the wreckers almost new condition.

4. Had a rear window regulator replaced, officially every regulator has failed in my car now and fingers crossed they last awhile :)
I've done well I think, cars better than ever and hope she does well for the next 100k+ km's.
