Not strictly a third gen subject, however the other day the connector for my crank angle sensor just decided to explode into a thousand pieces when I went to disconnect it. Not break, just explode everywhere. I crimped on some bullet connectors temporarily, however I needed something waterproof and reliable. I could easily have gone to a wreckers and chopped off a connector, however I have been looking for some better plugs than the usual single crimps for other jobs as well. Problem is finding something that isn't 1) fairly specific to a job and 2) doesn't cost a fortune

The other day I found these on ebay, and i've been very impressed with them http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261420505061?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=560309998211&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Fully waterproof, very easy to put together, and the crimps are strong and reliable. Just slip the cover on, expose a little wire, crimp connectors and then slide them into the housing

Here's some pics replacing the crank sensor plug

Yeah I lose the little tab that holds it on, so what. It's a solid connection and thats all that really matters. Very happy with them, i've also used a bunch on my bikes in 2, 3 and 4 pin varieties

We use a similar plug at work known as Deutsch Plug Kit, same principal, fully water proof and solid connections. I have been looking at getting a set of my own, but a quite pricey.

But good work in getting and doing the job properly too, at least it will last.

Most driving/spotlights come with these now. They are very good but expensive from auto parts shops like Autobarn. Need to shop around.

I put a link right in my first post. about $1 per connection, thats both connectors including boots and terminals. Most shops charge for the individual parts and it ends up being more like $10 per connection, ridiculous.

Am also using them. Its a plug I unplug and plug numerous times and crimping it alone wasnt good enough. One of the wires came out and that made things fun! Soldering the wire was the way to go. First crimping arms to grab the insulation, second (inner) to wrap over the wire, lots of heat and bam, never coming out again! Comes with 1-6 connections.

The terminals look very similar to a dupont connectors, I have a dupont crimper on the way so i'll see if that makes things any better. So far i've only had one come out and it was using a much thicker gauge wire, about 14awg. They aren't designed to handle wire that large.
I normally just use long nose pliers and it seems to grip pretty well, can yank on it and it won't come out

I have a dupont crimper, didnt really think to use it for this application. Though I guess itd work better than pliers... Though solder is guaranteed to hold (if its soldered properly). If you dont have a soldering iron, I guess its the next best thing. I did not crimp my waterproof ends like you did, that makes sense now that I see it! Mine are inside the car anyway, so I didnt care for them, but great to know for future reference!
