cheap = rubbish. Like with everything you get what you pay for
A mate of mine had something similar and said it was junk basically. Not the same but there are so many out there these days. He said it was very buggy. Problems booting up all the time, issues with connecting phone to unit and streaming music etc

I remember walking through the technology district in Bangkok and stalls were lined with these units, every car has one there.
They generally seem to work fine, however the build quality is usually not the best.

Why do they have a pic of a din unit in a car dash when its not the unit they're selling?

thanks rodpokey and goodoldjohno, its for a mate who wants it for the reverse camera, but bluetooth and gps would be handy. heaps of reviews on the older models but not much on this one. might just bite the bullet and give it a go hoping thet they've ironed out most of the bugs. at 1/5 the price of a pioneer unit its no great loss if it goes belly up.

If he mainly just wants a reverse camera maybe he could buy one of those replacement mirrors which also work as screen for the reversing camera? They seem cheap

Look at eonon units...they're on the cheaper side and I haven't had a single issue with mine. Actually works pretty well to be honest!

Another member here in WA has had a similar Chinese 2 din head unit installed in his TW for the last 3 years, worked very well. I've heard many negative experiences with these, but only a few positive ones so to me if the negative out weighs the positive then it's best not to buy it.
I got a Pioneer double din one at the JB Hifi boxing day sale last year, $200 off normal RRP and it's worked very well. Top build quality.
Also, with the other member's Chinese one, he says the brightness isn't all that good in direct sunlight.

I second Eonon, I was looking at those as well and they are probably the pick of the bunch when it comes to less well-known brands.
However, it begs the question. Aren't all of these most likely built in a similar way, using similar bits of kit on the inside?
It boils down to our wallet I suspect.

thanks guys, yeah the eonon units sure look like the ouku ones, they're not exactly the same, but I suspect they are from the same factory. having said that the eonon ones seem to be better supported so they may have better quality controls in place.

I bought mine straight from their website...that's what tipped it for me, the fact that they have their own website gave them some credibility over all the eBay ones.
I had a generic one in my old KW. It was $330 back then and had the tilt slide screen for the DVD and SD card slots. It occasionally won't boot properly but a reboot fixed it. Other than that, it worked perfectly. Updated the GPS from to igo Primo 2.4 and also changed the map SD card.
Have you looked at Dig Options? They may cost twice as much but are a lot better.
You can also get Android ones as well.
Either way, make sure, especially as your mate wants it for the reversing camera, that it has a proper reversing camera input which starts displaying the video immediately after starting, instead of waiting around 10 or more some seconds. Even the radio won't play til they boot up.
The OEM MMCS in my Pajero displays the reversing camera video straight away and plays radio straight away and at the same time. Tje reversing guide lines only appear once the system boots up.

thanks for all the input, looks like eonon is the brand if you're on a budget.
No worries. Just make sure you ask the seller about the dedicated reverse camera input. It was such a pain to wait 10+ seconds before the image will appear.

Hi, I have used this brand in three of my cars now. I am currently fittng in te M1 unit. Always had good support from the company and no faults at all with the hardware. The current unit is through my own fault, missing the maps, so I using the maps from the older version and they work well and load in a flash. The phone function is great, with an extended mic provided so you can clip it where you want. I have mine clipped to the "A"pillar drivers side. Bluetooth connection is simple and provided you have it turned on when your unit is turned on as well, they will pair instantly every time. SD card, USB and DVD are fine, but make sure the first two are in correct size format, so read the unit display output or you may think there is a problem. I am hopefully fitting the reversing camera this weekend and if I can resolve the steering wheel audio wire control colours, maybe that as well. Sound quality is fine for me, I'm not a head banger type but I lke to hear my music, and the phone is crisp and clear both ways. Vlad put me onto a couple of good websites for GPS info, which I have registered in, but I think my brain is in overload with everything I read last night :). Well worth looking at though. If you get one of these with the latest maps, let me know what they are like please. Any other questions about the company or the unit feel free to ask, cheers, Jeff

Dig options are very good. Their products (from people who've bought them) have been faultless.
Fast shipping too and excellent support

Yep, that is what I suggested. It is popular on the Paj forum.

The head unit I was actually considering buying was meant for a Triton, Dig Options said they were transferable between the Magna and Triton.
But now I suspect they have a Magna head unit

update: ended up getting the eonon G2104 unit which arrived in 7 days.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/361080840800?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
http://www.eonon.com/Upload/product/default/G2104/Black.jpg
also got this factory looking reverse camera:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231478862778?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Its pretty good considering the price. from stone cold it takes the reverse camera around 1-2 sec, the radio just under 8 secs. but once it's up and running the camera and radio respond pretty much instantly. the colour of the buttons can be customised to match the car as well as the startup logo. comes with kudos maps.
thanks again for your input!
