Hi all,
I want to change the rear muffler just to let the Mitsy breathe a bit better.
Problem is want something quiet when cruising, hate drone.
Just wondering if anyone uses or knows of lukey's Dynomax VT muffler.Sounds like
a good idea ,quiet whilst pottering around and a cool note when I gun it.
Some kind of valve inside that does the trick.evidently.
Could keep the Mrs happy and me when I'm alone :eeek:
Any thoughts? Cheers

Get a berkley Bs5055 or something like that
Or just the VRX/Sports/GTV/GTVi one for factory look.
Yeah I have a nice GTVi rear muffler here if you wish to buy and try out. Basically the VRX muffler but with a dump style tip instead of a chrome tip.
As long as you have a 3.5 litre sedan that isn't an AWD it will bolt straight on.

A heap of us have/had Berklees which are a good fit, and are almost straight-through, unlike the standard muffler. At first they are very very quiet, absolutely no drone at all! In fact I found it hard (and annoying) to get any nice note out of it all - at first anyway. Once it ages a bit, it gets better. And after a few years mine sounded very nice and louder, but never any drone.
The factory Sports/VRX muffler is a straight through, albeit a dog leg design. There are no baffles and 180 degree turns etc like the standard turbo mufflers.

Vlad, we're talking about a 380 here, not a Magna.
All stock 380 mufflers are identical.
The Magna Sports/VRX etc muffler won't fit under the back of a 380, I tried with the aftermarket Lukey version (LR2779) and it's about 2" too long to fit.
LOL. I thought I was in the 3rd gen section. Can delete all my posts :)

Thanks guys,for the suggestions.
Problem is here on Yorke's we have only one "proper" zorst shop-Carline.
They're stockist of Lukey and Redback gear. They're Dynomax VT seems like a cool idea, variable muffler.
Been thinking, might affect low speed driving until WOT and might be stupidly expensive.
Still I'd love car that could cruise in stealth mode and be loud as when you plant it,if that what it does.
My bro had Redback on his XR6,I wasn't impressed, tractor.
Anyhoo might have to go with a normal sports muffler. Lukey or do Redback sound alright on MIT's?
Doesn't have to be a deep sound,its not a V8.After a refined,techy sound.If that makes sense.An Aussie car with a euro accent Lol

Hey I had one of those dynomax vts on my car and it was horrible, the first batch had issues with a bad spring on the Flap it has been fixed since, but the aussie supplier still had heaps of old stock so I doubt they have cleared that out yet, by far the worst muffler I've ever put on a car

That's disappointing to hear nate_15.
Did it not just not work as it should or did it affect car drivability. Thanks for letting me know though.
Redback or Lukey it is then, probably Lukey if they make what I want.No drone, good flow and not too loud unless WOT.
Need a twin exhaust with two mufflers, one loud as and one quiet.Controlled by a bypass valve and button in car.Joke
Just order the berkley online and get carline to fit it.

Glad you went with berkle. Problems I had were when you turned the car on it sounded like the muffler was full of marbles, at cruising speed the valve would make a flutter sound and lastly at WOT it was stupidly loud, as if I had no exhaust at all. In the end the supplier warranted it and I went with what I had just with a different resonator

Sounds like the spring in it was too weak Nate_115.Just up the road from Moonta Vlad in Kadina, you going fishing?
Going with my family and brother's family so 4 adults and 5 kids. Plan to do some fishing, crabbing, beach fun etc. Weather looks good over the weekend. Will be passing through Kadina between 12:30pm and 1pm on Sunday so lookout for a Pajero followed by a VE Calais. LOL.
Best Mufflers are awesome. And great prices too. Bunch of awesome guys that work there.
Yeah I didn't realise it was a 380 either. lol

I was surprised with their prices Neo.Good site and free delivery is a bonus.
Wife and I took our youngest to Moonta bay today,Vlad.I will keep an eye out for your convoy Lol.
Weather has been perfect during the day,bit chilly at night.I drive with headlights on during the day during holiday season on the highway.Few drivers around with uuhhhhm not much overtaking skills.
Good luck with the fishing.
You need to fit a pair of LED DRLs. Saves power, H4 bulb life and fuel. It your 380 does not have fog lights then you can get round ones to fit in that spot. Mike, out state rep did it to his 380. Otherwise get the rectangular ones and fit to the slanted edge of the lower grille mesh.

I was looking at the fog lights today, was thinking if I could turn them into spots.DRL is a great idea.
Thanks Vlad,I will search the forum for a thread.
