hey all,

so the auto gear knob in the magna is fubar..

I know they are easy to replace but it got me thinking about something i saw on here some time ago.

one of the members had taken a knob of a commodore and put a manual gear boot / glove thing so basicly the auto worked as normal using the lights on the dash to conform what gear your in but looked like a hella sexy manual.

anyone remember what model commo auto knob they used and if the glove was a certain model or just a basic supercheap universal one?

thanks

A Supercheap one will do the job. Both the leather and vinyl/leatherette one fit with coercion. However, I think one off a VZ Commodore will also fit (don't quote me on that, check a wrecked VZ at a pick-a-part)

My mate used a VY gear knob and manual gear boot on his auto and it looks much nicer then factory.. Pretty sure they were fairly cheap from holden and you can get different colour stitching as they had the boot to match the interior and exterior of the car colour

Sorry, I misread. I originally thought you were doing the boot only.
I've seen Supercheap-style knobs on 3rd gens... Not a fan.

Hey ammerty, did you use a supercheap boot or commodore? is it an easy fit or is modification required?

I used a Supercheap boot. No mods required, but does require a bit of coercion to fit over the gear selector
