Does that mean that it has an illumination wire you can connect to the car dimmer wire? I bought a Pioneer FXH755BT, i hate it, its way too bright!!!

Most if not all head units have that dimmer wire.
Do you have a manual for the head unit?

Yeah i bought it new, no mention of dimmer wire in manual and no wire for it on the plug either...
The head unit has an in built dimmer which is garbage, its just on or off, would be better if it had selectable settings... had i known, id have left the fascia plastic protector on and night shaded the buttons!!

Dimmer button is the 'return' button, the button under the right hand arrow (next track button) button if that makes sense.
Link to online manual just in case you ever need it http://www.pioneer.com.au/au/support/manuals/FH-X755BT/page.html

I tried that function but, i like having the display, just prefer not as bright... might try to tint the buttons first. One prob is that ive changed the rest of the interior to blue LEDs, and blue on the head unit is one of the brighter colours... if id gone for red, wouldnt be an issue... i guess buying a new head unit is taking it a bit far though lol

Cheers but thats just for the inbuilt dimmer, which is just on and off... it doesnt actually dim it that much.... if youve seen the head unit lit up, its the two light bars on either side that take it to the next level... ill tint these first....

You can further adjust the dimming of the buttons and screen individually as well. Go to the online menu, type in illumination in the search bar and 2 pages will appear, click on the lh of the 2 for instructions. Hope that helps.

Also, the return button, it says to hold to adjust not just press. Maybe the longer the button is depressed the dimmer it becomes?

Thanks man, ill give it shot, im pretty sure i tried that and found that it was dim individually in terms of either screen/or buttons... maybe missed the "hold to adjust" bit... lets hope that works... ill try it!!

Ok, tried the custom colour. Basically you can adjust the RGB levels on any colour (red, green, blue) between 0 and 60... unfortunately it was color/brightness together, not separately... however the darkest "preset" blue was by default R-0, G-0, B-30. Minimum color level for all three is 20 combined, so I was able to darken the blue to 20, to give me R-0, G-0, B-20, slightly dimmer... better than nothing...
Ive got some blue lense tint i bought on ebay that I never used, its the cheap stick on stuff so ill put that over the light bars and see how that helps first...
I wouldnt suggest the FXH755BT unless youre happy with RED display or bright lights, or no display at night...
Cheers all
