The drivers side front window stopped working yesterday on my tj ralliart. I haven,t had a chance yet to look at it yet due to working. Luckily window is in up position. I have another switch which i can use to test that part, but i suspect if anything it is probably the regulator motor. I haven,t had to replace one before and was just curious as to whether it is possible just to replace the motor if need to, or do you have to replace the whole unit. I plan on pulling it apart tomorrow to take a look at it.

Is easier to replace the whole unit.
Is also worth checking the replacement units slides to see if the lubricant has dried out as this can cause slow window opening/closing. When required I re- lubricate the slides with spray on white lithium grease.

The reason is more than likely a snapped cable. From memory you can buy the cables separately to the complete unit. A lot cheaper too.
If your motor is still good I'd be trying to replace the cables first.
Make sure you note the adjustment positions of the upper and lower fixing bolts. This will make it a lot easier to get it back together again.
