Just wondering what kind of cars people learnt to drive in or owned before they got their magnas?

I learnt in an auto Falcon, manual Holden Nova, and then a manual Toyota Tercel...which ended up being my car when I got my P's. God I hated that car, but it kinda grew on me. 4WD is great. It was pretty good being able to have lots of fun but stay below the speed limit at the same time. It didnt use any fuel either. Too bad I cant say that about my Magna.

What names do you have for your magnas?

In my family we have 'stinga'. My bro's tercel is the T-Stinga, dads F250 is the F-Stinga (has a ring to it, my fav), mums VRX Lancer is the L-Stinga and mine is the M-Stinga. Anyone else got something strange like that? I think it started from some 70's car movie....not sure.

well i learnt firstly in an auto VX commy (parents car). then it was the driving schools 1.5L lancer and then another schools hyundai excel DOHC. the lancer was a shocker. the gear stick would just pop outta gear every now and then haha.

well, there are a few names for my car. Red Drifter is the funniest. the handbrake was put to work to get this title. then its the red bomber (mates red MX6 turbo is called the raped red bomber haha). then, beast is one that comes up. thats bout it me thinks.

I was 15 and the very first car I ever drove was a V8 XC coupe, auto. All of the cars I drove b4 my licence were friends cars, drove a 2 door valiant, cant remember the model, and a HZ holden about the place, when I met my hubby he taught me first in an XY sedan, and then he bought a V8 XB ute and I drove that, when I actually got my licence we had a 6 cyl, HQ holden, after kids we had gotten an XD station wagon, then I got sick of trying to haul that steering wheel and I went and bought my mitsubishi colt sedan, there was a car ya couldnt kill, and oh boy did I try lol By the time the 3rd bub arrived there was no room in the backseat and I traded up to the TP, had it now for 5 years.

Next car purchase will be back to the V8's and probably back to an XB, possibly even an XY, depends on what we can find.

Ahhhhhh, reminicising of the good old days, dont ya just love it. :D

my four learning cars.

Dads 88 magna manual
Dads ex-gfs ?? Excel manual
Gf's 83 Nissan Prairie
Instructors 00 Honda Civic (Had over 200,000 on it)

All fun, nothing wrong except the excels engine was so quiet i couldnt hear if i was revving enough, or over-revving, and the prairie was basically on 3 cylinders.

well lets see..., i have driver all of these up until i got my P's while on L's

My dad's old XF X-Pack (manual, havn't drove a manual since, can't stand ford manuals, awful)
My dad's next car (an EB falcon)
mum's car (EL falcon)
cars at DECA (falcons, again the same horrid manual gearbox)
My first car (Chrysler Centura), it's an *old* mid sized car, around the same size as a first gen magna, about the same weight, but with a hemi 6 motor that makes 125Kw (at the motor, not wheels)
And then along came the TP, which i've had for 2 years with few anonyances

I learned to drive in a diesel Corolla, a Mk1 Golf, and Dad's Hilux Surf.

I took my test in a CC Lancer.

The cars that we've still got are all named.

The Phoenix, which is the Golf
The Red Rollerskate, the Surf
and the Grey Ghost, which is the Magna.
