Does anyone know if these lights operated seperatly to the the standard lights fitted? I figure being classed as fogs they run seperate with their own switch.

Yes, the column switch has its own fog light rotating switch to turn them on.

Thanks GTVI, my awd does not have the switch so will have a dash mounted one.
