Hey guys, I have already replaced 2 x rear window regulators previously. Both of those failures happened in a similar way, a sudden pop sound.

I now have a problem with the front drivers window but the problem seems to show different symptoms. I have noticed over the last few months that sometimes the window will not go down when the button is pressed - usually this happens after the car has been sitting in the sun for a few hours (but that could be a coincidence). It usually comes good a few minutes in to the drive.

Now, months after I noticed the problem, the front drivers window is not working at all. I can hear a faint high pitched sound from the switch when I press it - but that is about it. No movement of the window at all.

Can anyone tell me if replacing the window regulator is likely to fix the problem here?

Most probably yes a window regulator will fix it .................. but you will only be 100% sure, after inspection i.e. removing the door trim and checking the regulator

When I bought the car had the rear drive side not working and got it fixed but the auto dealer... a year after the passenger side didn't work, so know it was a common problem I went to bought a new regulator (before inspecting), a week later went to replace it and to my surprise the connector to the switch was not connected, I reconnected and it worked and still is!! when I had the door trim out I could notice that the regulator had already been replaced and that most probably they did not click the connector properly.

So unless you check you cant tell...

Thanks for the tips guys - took off the door card today and hit the regulator with a hammer - and presto the motor has come good! Not sure if permanent fix.

Had the same issue with my front left about 2 years ago, A light tap of the motor and working fine ever since.
