Hay all
GTL serial pest here again!
Got a couple of questions about 380 air boxs
I was reading that RPW open up the secondary air box somehow I think I read they cut it wondering if anyone has done this or removed it completely? why is it there is there any benefit doing this I my simple thinking it does nothing and more air is good
I have also seen here somewhere people removing or re-positioning the rubber bonnet thingy infront of the intake what are your thoughts on this
lastly where are you all getting the galant intakes from

Just an update on my new 380 2 weeks in and loving it starting to use the throttle a little bit really enjoyable to drive
All fluids have been flushed and or changed, penrite hpr10 in the donk, timing belt and plugs done, new radiator, new washer jets, new speakers front and rear, front brakes machined and bendix pads, new tires
I do have a annoying knock/rattle in the front suspension and a little auto issue but I will start a new thread on these
Long term I think somthing like the RPW stage 2 mods will be on the cards
Thanks in advance for your advice I'm here to as much as I can

Leave the airbox alone.

If you supercharge it or turbo it then you might look into increased airflow.

You will gain nothing, absolutely zero.

Stay away from RPW.

Check out this thread, lots of discussion a few years ago, although many of the pics have now disappeared: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65965&pagenumber=
Bottom line - cutting the bottom end off the resonator gives some extra intake air flow, and removing it completely results in more intake noise but not much else.
Here's a couple of old pics showing how I originally cut the end off the resonator:

Andrew if you want to spend money on your 380 then get an LSD, you'll get the best bang for buck more than anything else.

Paul Adams is the only one who can do it 03-5277-0006

Not worth your trouble, just get the Galant intake for better flow (even if it doesn't translate to much extra power - see Zilo's comments). If you google RC Hill Mitsubishi you can look up the equivalent Galant model and order direct from them. Alternatively, do an eBay search - you may need to search 'worldwide' but there is a seller that used to regularly list them in the States (& should be able to ship to Aus). The RPW advice on 380 'enhancements' and net gains from such modifications is a bit far fetched.
