lately since the weather got cooler I've been hearing a humming noise coming from front passenger's side (I think) when driving at around 60-70 km/h first time in the morning (i.e. engine dead cold)

it's not a constant but rather hummm.........hummm.....hummm, if I go slower or faster can't hear it.

then once the engine warms up and after hit 100km/h stretch of road, the sound stops even if I slow down again to 60..

Anyone got any idea of what it could be??

Noisy tyre(s) when cold?
Road noise?

Yeah same. I've had some noisy tyres in the past, only when cold and never did it when they were new. Replaced the tyres and the noises went away.

To the op. Maybe check the inside wear on your tyres. Some compounds get noisy when they are worn down.

Any if you have tyres that pick up little bits of gravel in the treads, you can get all sorts of noises on different road surfaces.

Even had a creaking sound in one my (ex)cars, turned out it was a water damaged tyre and the steel belts in it were creaking. Took a while to track down.
Maybe put a spare on the corner where the noise is, to see if the noise goes away?

Thanks

I thought off that too but I've just changed the rims few weeks ago and it is still doing it (It use to do it even before with stock wheels....!!!)

I even thought it was the road surface since I always hear it the first think in the morning going to work same route but I tried to change my route and I still heard it...

Combined Brake and Clutch, Breakwater road in Belmont Victoria.

$180 for two wheel hub bearing assemblies....I can do two in about 60 minutes with a 14mm,17mm and 25mm sockets and a long breaker bar for the wheel nut.

Drop the lower wishbone, undo the tie rod, disconnect the brake caliper, undo wheel nuts and drive shaft bolt and split pin, pull out drive shaft, undo 4 wheel hub bolts, replace and refit.

Car will drive like new

Betcha , Betcha, betcha...:)

OK thanks

So I'll talk to my brother-in law to help me out (as he's a trailer mechanic) and change them...
