So little while ago I posted asking if anyone knew if a KH blackout cluster would tick over to zero after it hit 999999, no one could confirm that it would and searching the forum just came up with suggestions that winding odometer up would take it back to a low figure.
My car has 145000 odd ks on it, new cluster had 360000 odd. thought what I got to loose, wired up cluster to a computer power supply then hooked in the fan, was doing about 200 k an hour. tad slow at this rate would take best part of a long freaking time! Found a simple signal generator circuit made from a 555 timer chip on a computer forum, made it up connected it and wola! the ks started ticking over, calculated it was doing about 1500 k an hour, any faster than this and the cluster would actually shut down until i wound back the signal. settled at about 1200 k an hour. about 18 days later it gets to 999999, and thats where it stays! there was no glorious roll over to zero. dOH :facepalm
point of the story .. kh blackout clusters dont roll over to zero, not sure if this is true for all digital odometers.
Anyways spoke to a guy that repairs clusters he will be able to sort out odometer for a fee, a generous fee at that.
If anyone is familiar with reflashing the eprom on these and willing to give me a few tips feel free to send a message!
