I've pulled apart half my bootlit trying to remove the number plate illuminator because a bulb has blown, finally got it out and i haven't the slightest idea how to get the bulb out, is the bulb supposed to even come out or do i need to buy a whole new lighting unit?

If you can, put in LEDS, they do a better job.

Yea, good LEDs are. Not cheap rubbish ones. Then again, good LEDs can be cheap as well if you're not buying in Australia.

The following are what I have in my Pajero's number plate and mirror approach lights. Work a treat.

I have the following in my door puddle lights. These were a little too long for my mirror thus I got the above O/S ones.

I tend to purchase from Australia if possible as I don't have to wait too long. I only went with O/S in the first item I listed because nothing that short was available in Australia. Note that I have used 5630 SMD and 5730 SMD LEDs. These are 0.5W each compared with 0.2W for the 5050 SMD LEDs and thus require less amount.

Likewise, I used the following for my interior lights:

You can see my ride thread on how bright they are.

As for the removal of the licence plate light bulbs, from memory, there is a screw for each one which is unscrewed from the outside. Basically one side of the lamp cover is screwed in while the other side slots/clips in.
