Hi does anyone have one of these installed in their Magna.
IF so can the display light be dimmed using the dash light dimmer as in the factory radio.
Does the antenna retract when it is playing anything other than the radio receiver i.e. CD USB.
and what is the function of the single blue wire plugged into the right hand rear of the factory unit?
Any one have a photo of a single din unit in a TW and know the part number of the box which would fit under a single din.?
thank you Horace.

Single Blue wire should be power Antenna, the Blue/white is an Amp turn on/trigger... So the antenna should retract...
Orange on the alpine will be the dimmer trgger wire for the Head Unit... Should be Orange white on the TW according to this
Hi All,
Recently installed by Alpine H/U into my '03 TL LS. Relatively painless, except for the research. Not sure about wiring in other models, but see how you go.
The stock is a rebadged Clarion. It's got a 16 pin and 8 pin socket and a socket for a stacker (Not Ai-Net or M-Bus though).
16 Pin (numbered looking at the loom, left to right, top row first)
(Primary colour is the fist, the second is the stripe)
Pin #, Loom Colour, Function, Standard Colour
1. White/Red --> Front Right + --> Gray
2. White/Blue --> Front Left + --> White
3. Green/White --> Illumination (Dash lights. Normally used to dim the HU) --> Orange
4. (No connection/pin) i.e. no spot on the plug at all. Makes way for retention clip.
5. (No connection/pin) i.e. no spot on the plug at all. Makes way for retention clip.
6. Pink --> Auto Antenna --> Blue **
7. Yellow/Blue --> Rear Left + --> Green
8. Yellow/Red --> Rear Right + --> Purple
9. Black/Red --> Front Right - --> Gray/Black
10. Black/Blue --> Front Left - --> White/Black
11. Black/Yellow --> Dimmer (Rheostat) --> Orange/White (not all H/U have this)
12. Red/Black --> +12 from battery --> Yellow
13. Blue --> Ignition --> Red
14. (No connection/pin)
15. Gray/Blue --> Rear Left - --> Green/Black
16. Gray/Red --> Rear Right - --> Purple/Black
** Some H/U have Remote On (Blue/White) and Power Ant (Blue). If you connect Blue, the antenna will be up when listening to tuner only. If you connect Blue/White, it will be up when the stereo is on. Don't connect your amp to the Blue on your new H/U, use Blue/White. Otherwise this will turn your amp on only when listening to the tuner!
8 Pin (numbered looking at the loom, left to right, top row first)
(Primary colour is the fist, the second is the stripe)
1. (No connection/pin)
2. Blue --> Radio Mute (Phone Connector)
3. (No connection/pin)
4. (No connection/pin)
5. (No connection/pin)
6. Light Green and Black --> Remote Control ** (Where fitted on Verada XI Steering Wheel)
7. (No connection/pin)
8. (No connection/pin)
** This wasn't on my unit, but I found out from the Service Manual.
Note there is no ground in this loom - need to attach your own earth strap.
I used my own knowledge in conjunction with http://www.streetdreams.com/wires/mitsubishi/general.html. Only the speakers matched the TL, so maybe the other colours will match earlier models.
You'll see in the image the orientation of the plug - the direction you see here is how the numbering above it set out in my explanation. Look at the plug as is, with the retention button/clip on the top.
Most other guides (including the Service Manual and the guide from Install Doctor below) give their pin assignments as if you are looking at the plug from the back - that is where the wires come out of and have the clip on top.
Enjoy and good luck.
If you cant find a single din picture in my ride thread, there is definately something wrong... There should be a console removal write up too...
And you should find a lower din pocket at the wreckers for a fiver....
Yup in an the first two posts....

Just a couple of tips though, I suggest you get an AP0111 form aerpro and solder that to the alpine loom, then its pretty much plug and play, without hacking up your loom. Just a couple of small changes from memory.. Ant wire/illum wire maybe...
I'd also suggest you make a better earth for the H/unit... Dash bolts are good there...
I also wish they would include a flat fascia surround for the head units.. They look so much better set back in....
