Can you still get plastic clips to hold the windscreen chrome on?

I don't know the answer but perhaps magna buff will. I did a search on eBay for "windscreen trim clips" and found some for other brands. You could try contacting this seller as they specialise in clips and fasteners and ship worldwide. They mention that they don't have all their stock listed on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10x-Honda-Windscreen-Cowl-Wiper-Motor-Cover-Scuttle-Panel-Plastic-Trim-Clip-/281689697486?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item419603acce

Those clips are put on in the factory before the glass and usually get covered by the windscreen sikaflex when it is glued in.
Removing the bits buried in the sealant before putting new ones in is a real pain, use a sharp instrument and nick the glass, and you have an instant crack. Bye bye windscreen!

I never use those clips even when replacing a windscreen, I just mask off the paint and glass at the edges of the trim and use more sikaflex or non acidic silastic to fill the gap and put the trim on, holding it in place with masking tape.
Let set and clean up.

I guess the windscreen could get broken putting the trim on, I'm lucky or unlucky my screen is cracked already, glueing it in would be the way to go

The screen is a three layer laminated setup, the danger is if you use a sharp knife to trim away the sealant to get old clips out, just the slightest touch of the knife to the outer glass layer will set off a crack, starts small and spreads within days. (Ask me how I know . . . .)

If you can get the clips and are replacing the screen anyway, make sure the clips are on and seated correctly before the screen goes in.
Putting the trim on using the clips is not dangerous in itself.

the screen is cracked already

wait till you can replace the screen

In the mean time sikaflex 252 the chrome strip to whats left of the broken clips
