Hi guys,
I suspect my oil leak is from the distributor o-ring as there is quite a bit of oil below that area. I'm going to replace the o ring but haven't done this procedure before. Looking at the workshop manual they say when putting the distributor back I need to ensure cylinder 1 is at top dead centre. How do I go about doing this?
Thanks

Like any disassembly either mark the relative postions of the dissy to the head, the rotor positon to the dissy body. from memory it's just a large slot the camshaft so as long as the motor is not rotated then it should be straight forward. take photos even,

I did mine a few months ago, the distributor only goes in one way so you should not have any problems. Make sure the grrove where the seal sits is clean, mine was full of crud.

Nah - you can only put it back together the "right" way - the drive to the distributor is keyed - it doesn't at first glance look like it - but it is.
Best of luck - hope your's isn't as hard to dislodge as mine was.....

If the key is worn it is technically possible to install 180 degrees out, but usually it's a one-way thing. Check the position of the button before removal to be sure, and when you're drifting the dizzy back in give the button a bit of a wobble to be certain it's engaged properly in the slot.

Hi I'm also looking at doing this for my car but I haven't been able to find where the Oring is sold. Can they be bought online?

dealer is an obvious one, CBC bearings, maybe repco. CBC will have a cross treference for the OEM number but up here I have found them to be more expensive than OEM so I don't bother with them anymore.
