Hi all,
Going to install cruise control on my tj executive 4sp this weekend hopefully. Got all the parts (i think) tb, vac motor, control box, control stalk, clock spring.

Ive had a look, and i cant find the wire that goes into the control unit.
Am i missing anything / anyone done this before and can provide a helpful hint?

Cheers all

Cheers mate.
Had a look at the thread and at my car.. turns out i have to change the dash loom at the least. Any ideas on how to do it? Ive traced the loom to the firewall, but not much other than that.

I should have mentioned i have a tj2 executive.

shouldn't have to change the dash loom at all, just clock spring, backing plate behind the steering wheel for the cruise stalk, and the loom would be the lower engine harness, but first open your centre console where your shifter is, you will find a phone plug there, in that area you could find another ( white) plug tied back there, if so, that's the plug for the cc ecu and you wont need to get an engine harness

Theres no plug. I went to pick and payless to check other magnas and theres the cc ecu cable coming out of the loom. I had a look at mine and it just isnt one coming from the loom.
Also, may be a noob question, but i have no clue how to get to the clock spring and the cc stalk. Is there a super easy way that ive been to dumb to see?

Cruise stalk is on the steering wheel, you will need to remove the the airbag/steering wheel centre and horn bar to get to it. You will need Torx bits to remove the airbag grub screws and horn bar screws.
Access to the clock spring also involves removal of the steering wheel. You will need a 17mm socket to remove the steering wheel nut, and a bit of heft to remove the wheel.

There are plenty of threads around regarding airbag/steering wheel removal procedures

To get the airbag off is it just 2 screws on either side of the steering wheel?

Disconnect the battery prior to removing it.
But yes, two Torx screws, pull it out and carefully disconnect harness at back.
Seriously. Plenty of threads about it. Search.

Ok, thanks. Any ideas on loom replacement? I.e. is the loom easily removed once exposed, etc?

the engine loom can be a pain in the rear if you got ABS as the loom in the engine bay is laid behind the module (don't remove the ABS module). the loom runs to the ECU, you must remove the centre console, side plastic covers, and the steel covers behind the plastic covers, from there right at the back you will see the ECU. the plugs connected to the ECU is engine harness, the loom will go from there to the engine, and connects to your gearbox, EFI, dizzy, ETC. there should also be a large plug where the water bottle washer is that goes no where, at least in your car there should be, check for that plug first, then make a decision if CC is worth all the hard labour or not. now for me, with the loom I cut my old loom that went behind the ABS module and laid the new loom in front of the ABS module. of course, before any of this work starts, disconnect the battery.
