I'm currently in a rut about what to do at this point in time. I bought a GTV satnav and the remote is bust not to mention the unit is locked and the maps are old i just figured its going to be too much effort for such an antiquated GPS unit, so i decided to put the unit on the shelf and try something else.

The only problem is I've hacked my woodgrain console up to accommodate the SatNav screen, now I've been thinking of re purposing the SatNav screen surround for an aftermarket GPS unit.

If i go for an aftermarket unit i'm going to have to make a custom bracket up for the aftermarket nav unit to sit comfortably into the surround, the upshot is if i get the nav unit to sit in the factory surround i think it'll look pretty nice. If anyone has any tips or pointers on what nav unit i should get and how i would go about fabricating an effective bracket let me know because i feel like im abit out of my depth at the moment, i don't really want to go back to the ashtray i don't smoke and i never use the cigarette lighter as a power socket anyway not to mention i'm still trying to source a backup woodgrain surround, so all i have at this point is the hacked up one.

What I would do is just get a double DIN satnav unit and be done with it

If i find a woodgrain surround before i can make any progress on this that'll probably be the way it goes.

The woodgrain surrounds are not a rare item, you should easily be able to find it.
