Hello, I have started to build a TM Magna rally car and need to get more power from the standard 2.6 carbie engine. Any idea's welcome such as carbie mods etc... I need to stay within CAMS rules but any help or idea's would be good.

Thanks

first let me say i love 1st gens as they are such smooth comfy cruisers, and what u can do with the engine all depends on what you want to spend.
but
im afraid its a bad choice of platform to build on for a rally car. the general dynamics are wrong, the aftermarket parts are next to nil, and as i worked for Aust Motors Mitsubishi when the 1st gens were still new and under warranty i can think of some reasons they couldnt cope with rallying (competitively).
rear torsional suspension too weak for the amount of travel and speed it would be working i think.
assume its a manual, but if auto trans will quickly die.
there was a problem with spot welds missing along floor and sill and along roof on that model, and the shell itself might not be rigid enough.
front will need to be raised to prevent sump smashing, this will throw out geometry and u will go thru CV joints, not enough sduspension travel in front.
power steering is too light for good feedback of torquesteer cornering and pumping the wheel lock to lock.
just a few things to consider anyway. but if its just for fun and u have the car already go for it, we love to follow the progress  .
