Does anyone know whether seats are genuine leather (2005 GT) and if so, what parts of the seats are genuine?
input will be appreciated.
Cheers

380 leather seats are "bonded" leather with a thin PVC coating. It's still leather, just not made from hides as such.
See here for an explanation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonded_leather

So i guess I'm wasting my time putting leather condioner into my seats explains why every concivable cleaner didn't damage the material not nail polish remover aeroguard not even cutting compound. Still couldn't get the few stains I've got out might consider re covering

As far as I am aware it's still a good idea to use Leather cleaner and conditioner on Bonded Leather.
It's not as good as actual Leather Hide but it's still Leather (even if it's more like a paper mache leather with glue).

I think only high end cars have real leather the rest like Mitsu, Ford and Holden etc use "pleather" (plastic leather)
Loads of arguments whether leather "feed" products are worthwhile but my own observation is just use Aerospace 303 and save your money
For the question on which part of the seats, usually the areas your backside and back don't touch are a vinyl product.
I have stopped using leather products, other than cleaning. It didn't seem to make a difference, other than making it slippery.
You will notice wear marks come up quickly, as the leather underneath the initial layer is not dyed. If you grab your self a piece of veg tanned leather and cut it you will see how hide leather fibers really look like.

Yeah, most mainstream cars the seats are only leather faced, meaning, as mentioned, the part you come in contact with when seated is all that is the "pleather"
Still, I used to have a LX 380......really liked the feel of the seats

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. So what is the best way to keep the Fleather (fake leather) looking good?

I have been using Bowden's Own Leather Love and Leather Guard on my 380 religiously since I purchased it. According to this blog entry of theirs (http://www.bowdensown.com.au/leather-care-blog) it's designed specifically for bonded/polyurethane leather. Plus it's reasonably priced and available from Supercheap/Autobarn.
My leather hasn't deteroriated in the 70,000 km+ I've had the car (NB: purchased the car with 69,000 km on it) so I think it works pretty bloody well.

I have been cleaning the seats and am about to condition the seats (using AutoGlym products). My quandary is that I do do know whether the leather conditioner will do the PVC parts any good (waste of time?) or even damage the PVC. If I use PVC conditioner what will be the effect on leather bits. If only I could work out what is fake leather and what is PVC.
Looking at the backrest square on (including the bits on the side, which are rounded...bolsters?) there are the following sections:
3 in the middle (the top section runs over the top where the headrests sit and continues over the rear of the seat)
2 bolsters (1 each side).
The bit one sits on is composed of 6 sections:
4 in the middle (the rearmost one being small and going into the bottom of the backrest). The foremost one curves over the front of the seat and goes down toward the carpet).
2 bolsters (one each side
Anyone know which bits are fake leather and which of these bits are PVC.
Cheers.

I use this one
http://www.meguiars.com.au/interior-care/gold-class-leather-cleaner/
on my Ford Territory, which has leather seats - It works quite well doesn't affect any vinyl sections, in fact it says its cleans it - after 3.5 years, the seats look fine. Hope this helps.

Yep, I've used the same stuff for years, on the 380 leather seats then on both Jags' seats (first one was bonded leather, second one is real leather), best leather cleaner I've ever used.
The first Jag's driver's seat was pretty dirty, years of ingrained sweat and grime on the front and side bolsters, this gear cleaned it up like new with only a little bit of elbow grease required.
As mentioned in an earlier post, 303 Aerospace Protectant works very well to enhance and protect both leather and vinyl, I use it on the Jag's dash and doors.
I used mothers leather conditioner on my KW for the 9.5 years I had it from new and the leather looked as good as new. I used it on the dash and door panels, steering wheel, gear knob and hand break handle as well.
