Hi All,
Chasing a possible solution/ideas as to what fix my problem.

Problem:
- I got the car off a family friend and when i went to pick it up, it wouldnt start. RAC took the car to their workshop and ended up fitting a new ECU.
-I got the car then and it would always drive with the engine light on and the neutral light flashing (once/second)
-I had multiple OBDII testers on the car, with each one reading "cannot connect to ECU" (or along those lines.
-I earthed out pin 1 of the diagnostic plug and read Flash code 14-TPS sensor, adjustment incorrect.
-I own the gregorys Manual + the downloaded Magna manual, from which i have used a multimeter to check voltages and resistances of the TPS, from which i can more or less say it is ok (although i am not 100% confident)
-One day i decided to bite the bullet and check the ECU and discovered pin 78 (TPS signal wire) had been bent down during installation when the mechanics fitted the new ECU and was now touching pin 90.
-i straightened the pin and reinstalled the ECU.
-The Engine light no longer appears, although the Car still enters Limp mode after 5-10sec of driving, where i can only use gears 2+3.

If anyone has any ideas/solutions/more troubleshooting which i may try, please give me some sort of help.
Many thanks

Are you sure you are getting both 2nd and 3rd gear?
If the gearbox goes into limp mode, the neutral light should be flashing and only 3rd gear is available.

You have fixed the engine light flashing (TPS signal incorrect due to the short) but not the gearbox problem.
The code for gearbox problems can be read in the same way, by counting the flashes of the NEUTRAL light rather than the engine light.
Codes are available somewhere on this forum.

If there is no code, ie the neutral light doesn't flash, one possibility is that the replaced ECU is the wrong type, but someone smarter than me needs to pick up on that possibility. If you can get the numbers off the ECU someone will be able to tell you if it is the right ECU for your TJ.

It's a pity that we don't know what the gearbox was doing before you picked up the car, the gearbox may have been fine and the current problem is entirely due to the ECU put in the car. Can you get details from the previous owner?

I can definitely select 2nd and 3rd as i can manually select them (forgot to mention i have Sports Shift).
Ill have a look for gearbox codes.

Is the carpet in the passenger wheel well wet by any chance?

My ralliart went in limp mode recently. As above my issue turned out to be a shonky relay, just above drivers left foot due to gunk in it from leaking coolant from heater core. Replaced relay from wreckers and no more limp mode. Recently had heater core issue fixed and no more leaks. May not be your issue, but something to check.

Just confirming that is is the NEUTRAL light flashing, not the ENGINE light. So it is a Trans code as i confirmed here http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98435

The passenger floor well WAS wet about 1 month ago, but never since then.

I will check the continuity on the relays to the left of the drivers foot, hopefully can rule them out.

Keep the help coming guys :)

Why was it wet? Did you find why?

If you didn't investigate it at the time, you might want to look at your heater core - and make sure your coolant level is okay too.

Had the same problem. Coolant from a leaking heater core dropping on the relay. Replaced the relay after heater core fixed. No more problems.
