hey guys

my magna has been falling apart lately. I've had to replace both driver side window regulators. I had to pay someone as i wasn't confident enough to engage into something i didn't understand.... i can't fix something i can't see nor i know what it suppose to look like before it broke.

Anyway the windows aren't sliding up close enough to the seals, so when i close the door with the window up, the glass pops out of the hard plastic glass cover (at the top of the window).

I think i've worked out the problem, there are 2 plastic clips on the glass that slides into the stabilisers. One of them seems to have been broken and the window doesn't go where it should.

Is the plastic clip part of the window stabilisers? can i get it separate? and how much are they?

thanks

A common problem.
They are separate bits, white in colour, just bolt through holes in the glass. Should be free or very cheap from the nearest wreckers.
Take a whole bunch, 2 per door - but you need to pull door skins off, obviously.
Take the through bolts and washers too.
Takes a bit of time to set then up correctly so the window pulls in at the top just before it is completely closed.

are the clips the same throughout all the models? and are they the same as the sedan?

i bet the wreckers would want to move the entire glass rather than sell the clip.

All the same.
Clip isn't part of the glass, just attached to it.

Check a Mitsu dealer first, they may be cheap.

yeah i just rung some wreckers and their attitude was, you need to buy the whole glass. If i was in their business, i'd be trying to sell the glass too. Their cost; $88au

They were more interested in the year model of the car... so if it was TE, it may be cheaper than a TL.
Anyway, are the manual and electric all have the same clips too?

I will see if the dealer has them separate, but i'll get the KY ready incase i'll get raped.

Go to a self service wrecker and help yourself.
Plonk 2 or 4 on the counter, and see what they say. Act casual, say nothing. $5 is my guess.

I bought the clips separately from a dealer about 2 years ago. They were about $6 each then. I had used a second hand one but it only lasted a few months as the plastic becomes brittle. I have a spare one in its wrapper somewhere. I'll post the part number if I can find it.

i've ordered 3 clips from the dealership. I hope they're the right ones. The diagram was very confusing.

Anyway the were around $8.20 each
