Just wanting to know if the standard Ralliart header y-pipe has the clamped on heat shielding we see on the standard Magna y-pipe.
I understand the Ralliart uses HM headers, just wanted to know if Mitsubishi covered it up.

Quick and graphic, just the way I like it. Thanks for that.
The think tin covering is what I was trying to describe. .
Not going to lie, I was expecting something prettier. Just looks like a skinned stock y-pipe with headers.
Now that I have your attention though, can you identify a Ralliart engine from its engine number, or is it a matter of checking the heads are stamped? The Ralliart heads have an "R" on them or something right?

You can identify a Ralliart engine number if it has an M after the 6G74, like "6G74M-XXXXXX"

Pretty sure you're wrong there.
Both of my TJ Advances have 6G74M engine numbers, and I'm pretty sure its the same for all 3.5L third gens.

Correct sir. All of our engine codes have the M in, our full engine number is as mentioned above 6G7(X)M(XXXXXX)
Best way to identify a ralliart motor just by itself would probably be the heads (stamped R) and no 15 cams.

Sorry but YES they do, the pic above clearly has had the shielding taken off, I have wrecked several Ralliarts and sold more of the headers and all have the shielding

This is what I figured also Mal.
I was seriously considering a Ralliart as part of my "Amputee vs Manual gearbox" project. But the car wasn't worth what they were asking. +1 for pre-purchase inspections everybody.

Checked mine, it has the shielding on the Y pipe as well.

Well, the picture that I took was just after I took them from a car at the wreckers. Obviously the owner had removed the covers prior to refitting the ralliart header to his TH. Nice clarification though to know that they still came with the sheids anyway.
