Ok so Im tackling the Climate shuffle I have the TL Climate Control and Im putting it into a Tj S1 VRX
Im going on the following information I searched up and assuming there is no difference between S1 and S2 TJ VRX wiring looms.
If anyone knows EXACTLY what is needed please let me know.
TL / TJ climate conversion.
The different wiring is regarding the in-cabin air sensor. The climate control unit in TJS2 and prior models have inbuilt interior temp sensors - behind those grills around the control knob. The problem with this is that aftermarket headunits that give off more heat were making the unit think its hotter than it really is in the cabin and keep turning the air-con on. However in the TL's this sensor is external to the unit and is fitted behind the small patch of holes on the LHS of the console near the headunit.
This sensor needs to be wired into the loom. as per this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86538&p=1457991&viewfull=1#post1457991) asking about much the same thing has most of the information. Life shows pictures of what wiring you need to do is this the same plug set up in the S1 and S2's?
I'll give a short summary here.
- TL Interior cabin sensor has two wires - Purple and Yellow.
- The TJS2/KJS2 has two plugs that go into the climate control unit. One is small (B-13) and one is large (B-12). Diagram below ↓

- The small B-13 plug has a pure yellow wire in Position 10. --> Wire the Yellow wire on the TL cabin sensor to this wire.
- The large B-12 plug has no wire in Position 34. This where the purple cable needs to be inserted.
And that's all there is to the wiring part of the install.
As for fitting - yes the stereo mounting bracket is different. The headunit is much higher in the TL than in the TJS2 as the Climate control unit positions are different. Make sure you grab the stereo mounting brackets as well as the lower storage compartment.
If you use your air-con alot then consider looking into this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93509&highlight=) - onkytonk seems to be having some discrepencies and problems with the air-con not running properly. Personally I barely use it so I'm not fussed but he seems quite pedantic about the system working 100%.
Good luck with the conversion! Enjoy :)
