I did a bit of searching through the forums but couldn't find a whole lot on the subject. I would be quite interested in getting my windows tinted but i'm concerned how the tinting would be affected by imperfections in the glass. I don't have any cracks or serious issues with my glass but one of the passenger windows and the driver window has some noticeable scratches on it.

I'm curious to know whether tinting will cover up these imperfections or if they will still be visible, if it is the case that they remain visible what would be the best way in trying to address the scratches before i take it to get tinted? I had a look at seeing if O'Brien did any sort of glass restoration work but according to there website they don't do scratch repair so i'm at a loss for a solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd either replace them with windows from a wrecked Magna, or just tint as-is. I think it would be too difficult to fill in or repair a hairline scratch in glass nor would it be worth the expense of purchasing new glass.

The will still be visible. If the scratch is on the inside you will see a pocket of air around it if its deep enough; if its not deep it still wont hide it.
If the scratch is on the outside and backed up against dark tint it will look hideous. I had a Camry where I had to smash the rear wind-down door glass to get into; replaced the smashed glass with a second hand one with scratches on the outer side and with dark tint behind it, the scratches stood out like the dogs proverbials. It didnt worry me much, however, as it was off to the auctions as part of an estate finalisation.

I just had the drivers window retinted in the ralliart due to marks on the tint. When they were doing it they called me in to show me a deep scratch in the glass. I said no worries just do it. The tinting looks good but as others have said the scratch that was pointed out to me is visible in the tinting. Although this doesnt worry me as i know it was in the glass not part of the tint.

Can the scratches be polished out? Try using non-gel type toothpaste or even metal polish and rub across the scratch. Interesting though that I bought a second hand Samsung Galaxy S4 with a noticeable scratch on the glass but with the screen protector film on, the scratch disappeared. No air pocket as well.

I'm not sure how you could polish a scratch out given how much tougher glass is than paint/plastic.

It's not worth trying........

Thanks for the all the feedback guys, i think the most logical step would be for me to find two good condition second hand windows chuck them in and then get the tinting done, i want to do it properly the first go around.
