hey all, could anyone who has just bought either of the stated model magnas let me know details (eg. year, model, series, kms) of the car they bought and the purchase details (eg. price, private/dealer, state) perth owners would give me a better idea as im looking at a couple at the mo and dont want to pay too much as they seem to be askin rediculous prices.

Cheers

You guys in WA seem to have to pay more than most other states. Don't get ripped off by a dealer though.

Make sure you are searching the Trading Post on-line (it and private sales in your area are your best way of determining what is a reasonable price in WA). You may want to consider purchasing a plane ticket to another state if you see one at a much cheaper price. Manuals can be hard to find as well, so you may need to act quickly when you do find what you want.

It took me a long time to find my car - but you never know - the right one may be advertised next week.

Hey Champ,

You will find the market for magna's is dead atm in perth (I should know, im selling one). Now is a great time to screw a good deal. You will allways pay a premium to buy from a dealer, but you can allways negotiate with them so keep that in mind.

Expect to pay 2-3 grand more in perth that in the eastern states. When I was hunting for my VRX I was finding it hard to get one in Perth for under 25K that was manual and in good cond. I found the perfect car in Adelaide, flew over and drove it back. I saved 4 grand by doing it and it was a drive I will never forget.

Definatly worth seeing whats avaliable in other states, especialy SA as magna's seem to be alot cheaper there (for obvious reasons).

Best of luck with the car shopping mate.

cheers for the advice mate.

was wondering though, from your experiece, how much would i need to save on a car if, for example i flew to adelaide and bought one and drove/freighted it back.

can u or anyone give me rough figures of what the other costs to get a car back be. and also if u bought a car in the east and wanted to bring it back here, would u need to pay stamp duty etc. there or here (i realise that it depends on the price of car) cause ive been told that things like that can be cheaper over there, and how hard is it to get passed over pits back here and how much???

cheers all for help!!

...

Jealous. I can only imagine what surging forward through to the car's top speed would have been like, on the Nullabor. :P

But you wouldn't have done that. :)

My car really gets moving around 3200 rpm, held in 2nd or 3rd on the tippy.. but a manual! .. woooo hooooo!. :)

I got my TH Sport for $12,300 with only 33,000klm on the clock. Excellent condition & the vehicle was stock with the exception of an after-market stereo - the previous owner was an opera buff. The owner was a country NSW retiree who only used the vehicle on a few occasions. I only bought the car 4 months ago.

This was the best deal I came across after searching for months - dealers & private sellers.

The money I've saved has allowed me to done some basic mod's. Expecting to be doing more in the future.

Canberra VRX,

Mate I had quite a ball putting the VRX through its paces on the nulla let me assure you

I had a dyno in stock form and it pulled 120.1kw or 160hp at the wheels. Apparently I lost 2 kw due to my tyre pressue and it was done in 4th gear.

Im going back in 2 weeks for an after dyno with the mods i have. Should be interesting.

nice buy dude, yeah that WOULD be nice if i could afford it but my budget is around 15-16k. Also, i would like to add, in the industry that i work in (window tinter), my company did all Paceway Mitsu's work up until late, and when i went down there for some help lookin for a car they were useless and their used cars are well over-priced!!

Agreed they price their used cars way too high, and wont offer you jack **** trade-in.

I know as they only offered me 12K trade-in for my old ride on that red sports. In the end I went elsewhere got myself a Ralliart and was much happier with the trade-in price I got! :D

There is a gluttony of good TH 3.5L Sports in the Trading Post on-line this week. Four good ones at least.
- Priced from $13,500 to $15,000.
- K's ranging from 50,000 to 95,000.
- One of them is black!!
- Some with alloys & extras
- 3 of them are manuals as well!!!

BUT.....all in Sydney. As i said earlier, consider that plane ticket very seriously!

evlmag1 has been banned for 5 days as a result of this completely idiotic and uncalled-for outburst of blatant disregard for a simple misunderstanding.

Plus 195 at the fly seems a bit too high for 133 at the wheels, making your drivetrain loss over 30%, about the same as that of a RWD

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_697/article.html

"It's widely generalised that there's a 30% power loss through a RWD's drivetrain, while a FWD loses only 20%. Needless to say, 10% is a big difference"
