So, I've taken the rear bumper off, got the towbar bolted to the chassis rails and bumper back on. (Anyone else take note, buy a bottoming M10x1.25 tap and clean everything out while it's apart)
I can't figure out where the part that bolts to the Bottom of the towbar and goes back underneath the spare wheel well - Do I need to drill 2 holes and then bolt them in?
Can get photos if required.
Cheers

If your installing it new, yes, you will need to drill at least one hole. Some tow bars line up with one of the factory holes. You'll also want a plate of metal to give strength from inside the boot of you don't already.

Right, the wreckers gave me 4 bolts with plates and 1 bolt has a sleeve which I guess is for compression strength.
Problem now is, I've got 2 bolts left over then if I use those 2. Unless they just gave me 2 extra?

What did the wreckers charge you for the tow bar if you don't mind me asking? cheers

Does yours look like this?
I had to unhook my muffler and remove the heat shield to access the last 2 bolt holes. Mine fitted straight on with no drilling.

It was $150 for a heavy duty towbar (genuine mitsu factory - I believe) Bolts were a bit crusty but, bit of tap and die and seems to be alright.
@ Grelise my towbars looks different as it's the heavy duty - For the most part it's the same but in the middle/center where the tongue(?) is, there's a plate that goes back past the spare wheel and has 2 bolt holes (i'll get a photo).
And yes I had to remove the muffler to remove the heatshield.
Once phone is charged I'll get photos.

So it's from "this" (the bolts dangling down) point backwards I don't understand

The crooked piece is the one in question - It bolts up to the tongue-flange and then as person above said drill and install through boot with plates?

So, one bolt hole is easy enough, straight at the bottom through the factory jack point, the other is nearly impossible.
It's at the rear of the boot (nearly at the back seat hatch) and underneath there isn't room to put a drill through - how the ____ do you do it? -
Edit: Measured 4.5cm down from the hole in the plate and 1cm across, drilled from boot down and managed to fluke it.
So, I've got the electrical harness which plugs into the passenger side, but how do I feed the wires through to the trailer plug - more so, where do I mount the trailer plug bracket?
Edit 2: Thanks Mal! http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76120&p=1197011&viewfull=1#post1197011
Edit 3: I see the grommet but there's no plug connections on the LHS(passenger) - it comes off of the RHS(driver) - Must be a TL vs TJ thing? - Nope I'm an idiot, you just unplug the passenger side light loom and plug into that. However I'm still confused about the trailer plug bracket, I've got 4 screws - but I don't have 4 holes anywhere...

I've drilled the bracket into the bumper bar - as per most of the cars at UPullIt that I saw.

i just leave inside the boot
That's how I started when I put a towbar from the wreckers on my TJ but ended up using some scrap thin metal to make up a mount so the socket sits next to the towbar.
Not in favour of drilling holes into the actual bumper. Looks too bogan/ghetto, whatever.
Any towbar shop should be able to supply a more professional bracket though.

I didn't have the flat cable loom?
I agree drilling into the actual bumper is ghetto, but, didn't have a plate/bracket to drill into the boot with?
Probably should get a better one fro ma towbar shop but hey, it works.
Cheers again team - feel free to PM me if you need help, now I know what I'm doing (horah) - except for mounting the plug bracket, hah.
