Went into another wheel n tyre shop today as the last ones kind stuffed me round

if u didnt know then they said they couldnt align the car without a full camber kit
also wouldnt put a simple bolt in for me as the smash repair guys only put 2 out of the 3 in my control arm as they stripped the thread
also didnt do up one of the front wheels so as i was driving home it come loose half fell off

so neways this new place i went to gave me 2 brand new tyres, fixed the thread n put a new bolt in, and completly alligned 4 wheels all for $335

tell ya wat its like driving a completly different car, turn the wheel a little bit and it actually turns!!!!!! before it was like turn the wheel maybe the car will turn a little bit lata but now it just sticks to the road but seems to have more body roll
time for a strut brace :D

Let me espouse this too. This helps incredibly against tyre wear and improves driving high speed long distance out of sight.

Sometimes you can get wheel alignment on specials like JAX $80. I think it is worth it, especially before you buy a new car.

$45 is a fair retail price for a wheel alignment. they cost me $25 (trade)

when they do your alignement, if you have nonstandard wheels/suspension make sure they take this into account when they set it all up,

i had my wheels aligned not long ago at bob jane and they just coppied the settings straight from the book, after that she was all over the show, floating all over the road, anyway i have a mate who checked the settings and we put 3mm of toe in on the front wheels, this fixed all the floatyness

So pretty much, watch who you let mess with your car, even the so called pros are lazy slackers who have no ****in idea

(yet another reason why nobody but me works on my car)

3mm of toe in for the front is HUGE for a FWD car, which should ideally be running 0 toe, or up to 1mm toe each side MAX. It is different to RWD cars where you need to dial in some toe in on the front, as the wheels will want to pull the front edge outwards when you accelerate. In a FWD car the driving torque will push the wheels inwards instead, so you don't want to give it even more toe in as this would chew out the outside edge of your tyres. I am running 0.5mm toe in on each front side as this gives a little bit better turn-in feel than 0.

BTW Peter I think calling pros "lazy slackers" is a bit harsh, as after all you went to Bob Jane are a mainstream tyre outlet. If you went to a professional suspension outlet you would see real pros at work. You get what you pay for... a typical $45 4 wheel alignment that takes 30mins is not going to be a thorough job.

Kmart at Erina (Central cost) do 4 wheel alignments for $46.00, and they do a good job.

Bob Jane yeah well.......I won't go there
