I took a KW Verada for a test drive the other day and the road noise was bad, is this common with the KL/KW Verada's or maybe the tyres are the cause? cheers

Tyres - tread pattern, rubber compound, tyre pressure, profile - and road surface mostly are to blame for road noise. (Except for wind noise, of course - mirrors, incorrectly closed/fitting windows etc.)

No road noise in my TJ or TL with standard tyre sizes except on very coarse bitumen.

These cars have quite a bit of road noise comparative to the new ones.

I recently took my KJ2 for a road trip, and with good tyres the road noise at 110km/h over rough bitumen was quite loud

I have a KH and it seems quiet good, but I noticed the KW was noisy, wasn't sure if it was the tyres, they were pirelli what type I don't know, I know Mitsubishi started trying to save money with the later Magna's maybe sound deadening was one of the area's where they saved money.

If you have time, you could remove some trims and pull the carpet up to see what differences there are in the level of sound deadening between a KH and KW.

From what I understand the KW did get slightly less sound deadening than the KH.
I remember reading the areas where less sound deadening was used, but to be honest the difference was so minimal that I doubt it'd make a real difference at all

Thanks Spetz, it may have been the road I was driving on and being too picky with what may have been wrong with the car, I wish I could have had it for a few days to really make up my mind. I decided not to buy the car for a few reasons though, but was a nice car for the money.

Tyres make a huge difference too, as does their pressure etc

At the moment I run aftermarket 18" rims with Continental Contact tyres, and I cannot tell a difference in interior sounds when compared to my factory 17" with Achillies ATR Sport.

Neither can passengers
