Hi guys,
As i write this I'm broken down on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck. clutch fork broke :(
Looking at the broken half it appears to be thin and brittle for a cast alloy piece. Just wondering if anyone knows whether TR V6 clutch forks are interchangeable with later model magnas or 380s?
Cheers,
Martin

Not interchangeable. Different clutch design. Push type on the second gen, pull type clutch on the later cars.
I was quoted $300 for one years ago. (Mine didn't break, but had lots of wear where it sits on the ball pivot. Shit design. Why use alloy?)

Thanks Madmax, is that $300 just for the part? :o Might have to look 2nd hand if so.
Will be DIYing it..

I've had a look at the manual for the second and third gen manual trans and it looks like the 'release lever' is the fork in the second gen and 'release fork' in the third. I don't have a scanner but looks like not compatible. I understand the third gen and 380 might be compatible. It looks like the 4 cyl sec gen is compatible with the 6cyl though, which would be good as there are more of them around.

Just the part.
Might be worth your while reading some old threads on the sorts of problems the second gen clutch setup can throw at you. It's not a simple "replace and refit the gearbox" exercise.

Wow, thats crazy!! I've done an engine and trans swap on this car previously so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.

This could be it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MITSUBISHI-OEM-91-99-3000GT-Clutch-Fork-MD770511-/271897282655?hash=item3f4e57485f
F5M33, original part was MD738709
Got the numbers from a general export Sigma F16A 6G72 with F5M33, maybe the newer number(MD770511) is an upgrade but I can't tell, also fitted to 3000GT 2WD

Thats an upgraded fork for an eclipse. I haven't pulled the box yet to see what the rest of it looks like, can anyone confirm?

Might be a good idea to double check the part number from a dealer here first. I'm struggling to find an Eclipse with a fork number to match but then maybe it fits anyway. ??????

Just called up Mitsubishi, MD738709 is the OE part number and it was superseded by the MD770511 (same as 3000GT).
Unfortunately both parts are discontinued so will have to purchase second hand if I want to buy from Aus.

. . . . which will be just as old and equally brittle as the one that gave out on you. And it may have lots of wear at the pivot socket. (Did yours break at the pivot point by chance?)
Seeing it is a bit of a job, do you really want to go that way?
If you do, at least get it crack tested!

Mine didn't break at the pivot, it was about 5cm from the tip. True about a second hand fork Madmax.
Couldn't find any at any of the local wreckers so I have bit the bullet and a new one is on the way from US.
Thanks for all the help guys :)

good and saved yourself a packet too. did they quote a price? another good source is AMAYAMA but I've already had some issues too with unavailability on some bits. getting the OEM numbers though can open doors though as the US market is large and often parts are used across several platforms.
thanks for the feedback, I'm always a little wary giving numbers just in case. Sometimes there's little doubt, somethings are unique to our market though.

martini have bought stuff from this mob and are ok to deal with.
They have some available
https://www.amayama.com/en/search?q=MD770511
Sometimes they have stuff in their aussie warehouse and that is good!! Shipping a bit quicker.
Japan is quick though too usually about a week. Cheers Vee
