My perfect TJ Ltd sports suspension has become too harsh in the subs for me . car has only 65000 kls on the speedo and I love it but as age comes to me I would like to make the ride like the tourer a mate had once. Pedders put on new shocks all round when they started to rattle and although they said it would be softer it is still harsh. They did a good job and it drives well but is there any thing I can do to make it more comfortable. I would like to hear from someone , other shocks perhaps?

Do you think that only replacing the shocks will give me the result that I want.??

Have you checked your tyre pressures?

If the tyres are over inflated the ride will be harsher than need be.

Look in the glove box for the tyre placard.

Compare the recommended pressures with the actual pressures in the tyres and adjust accordingly.

But note that whilst running tyres at the recommended setting for low speeds, the vehicle will not handle as well compared to running the tyre pressures at a higher level.

About 32 psi front and rear pressure should be a good compromise.

I think bushes end up drying out over time too and if you grease them up the ride becomes considerably better

I have had a good look underneath my TL, especially when changing the front sway bar bushes to polyurethane, and installing a new, larger rear sway bar and larger poly bushes, and I haven't noticed any grease nipples on any of the suspension components that I can see.

Thanks leadfoot 6, I am now running 32 front and 30 back but Bridgestone wants 38 all round and it is ok loaded and on the M1 but not around the suburb.
