While checking belt tensions and such I dropped my glasses and in the process of getting them back I noticed quite a bit of grease on the underside of steering pump and was wondering if pump is crapping out, any ideas or straight out answers.
Cheers, Harry

Is it possible that you've come across old oil gradually collected over years of minor seepage and splashes.. What about cleaning it all off and checking it regularly?

Unless you can borrow a telescopic inspection camera, you could otherwise try a mechanic, tyre shop or service centre that would agree to put it on a hoist for a free assesment/quote.
Get a rag & check from underneath, wipe the oily area to see if you can pin point the origin of the leak.

I say this because trying to locate the origin of a leak around the driver's side of the engine of a magna V6 looking down is a real PITA, given the limited space & angle that can be approached.
You may want to remove the cam cover first, as it may not be the power steering pump, it may well be a leaking tensioner, or timing seals for example.

Power steering fluid should be coloured red. Engine oils are brown or black depending on its condition. Gearbox oils have a distinctive smell about them. That should give you some idea of the source of the oils. If you remove the splashguard, it will help in determining the origin of the stuff.
