So I was considering getting some of that universal bumper lip stripping to help protect what is left of my front bar from the height of some of our gutters, also to hide the gutter rash on the pod/flaires, until I one day replace it.
http://www.ebay.com.au/ulk/itm/231634439717 - this stuff..
Being that the stripping is black and I have a black car, I didn't think it would look too wanky..?
Just not too sure how I would apply it. With the molded front pods of the VRX bar and all. Could maybe look ok/legit or might turn out looking like something not so nice.
It's quite flexible, so I think I would maybe try to adhere it to the flat surface below the grill at the bottom of the bar. Or should I bring it up to where the bar below the grill starts to curve back on itself?
I just can't picture it in my head. What are your thoughts?

I've seen a few types now on ebay some are adhesive and screw
I think they would look good on the 380 $30-$50 go for it

I have one identical fitted to my TW VRX. It looks good, and the VRX front bumper on Magna's are curvy too

I'm a bit confused, my 380 is modestly lowered and gutters/car park stops are hit and miss at best. If you had an extra inch or two of plastic from the bottom of your bumper, surely it's going to get destroyed pretty quickly, or best case scenario do nothing to stop your bumper from scraping? :eh:
Also, someone once made the comment that it looks like the rubber edging you use around garden beds. I can't get the association out of my mind. Sorry.

Haha, it won't be going on the replacement bar when that goes on one day when I have money (got backed into by another 380). More to see what it looks like on a 380, and to see if it can teach me parking skills. If/when the thing is lowered.

Not sure if anyone remembers but in the 70s early 80s you could get little springy things to put on your car people used to put them on the front lower wheel guards so when you pulled in or out they would scrap on the car next to you or the concrete barrier or whatever letting you know your front end was close to scraping early parking sensors lol thank good they dont sell them anymore
Put something like that on your lip lol it would look so retro
I wonder if a parking sensor could be set up to sound when your about to scrape
I worst things i think are the concrete stops they put at the front of a parking spot
Watch out for the ones at Newcastle I rink they are about 300 mm high nailed it good just wasn't paying attention
Gave me the excuse to plastic dip the lower grill insert and lip
All that said I think work or not some of them look awesome and I will be getting one in gray soon

I bit before my time, but I think I know what your taking about.
RE:Red Valdez comment, yep you can get garden material to do it and it's pretty similar. I put it on my car because I wanted it to look a tad lower from the front profile angle.

I've thought of doing this to the Ralliart Front Bar (when I get mine replaced).
It won't protect the front bar really - but it may give me a slight early warning sound/feeling when going up or down an unknown driveway.
I'd rather scrape/dislodge a rubber lip and stop - than scrape/damage the front bar.

Putting it on a Ralliart front bumper will be interesting when your parking. Does yours already have that lower splitter/lip thing that most Ralliarts have?

Yeah my front bar has the splitter on it. Although at the moment I only have half a front bar as I hit a Possum at 110kph.
As for parking... I always reverse park so the rear bar is towards the gutter anyway.
Only time I need to be careful parking is in 45deg car parks (as you have to go forward into them) - just stop well short of the gutter.

Yes, another reverse only parker!
I find it easier to get out of the parking bay itself if I pulled in rear-ward. Otherwise, pulling in front-ward I feel like I can't see anything until it's too late and I'm half way out onto the street and a bus is coming! :O
