Hi,

I thought that I should share the knowledge that I've acquired by fixing my IMPCO BRC gas injection issue.

I had random stalling, shuddering, and misfires while running on gas. Running on petrol was not an issue. Also gas usage and mileage went through the roof, (couldnt even get 300km on a tank - normal driving)

The car would also just shut down while cruising at part throttle on the freeway, and also at steady cruise at 60kmh. It would also shut off at idle in gear at the lights. All this was totally random and intermittent that it was almost impossible to diagnose. Some days it would run flawlessly, others not so much.

Anyway, the problem was a bad ground connection between the gas ECU and the wiring loom. There are a few ground wires which branch out close to the ECU, and all these had dry solder joints. Voltages at the wiring loom would fluctuate between 13 volts to 14 volts intermittently, which then threw out all other gas sensors such as pressure and temp sensors.

Its been annoying me for years, and nobody could help me, apart from Malaga Auto Gas, Perth.

Hope this helps in some way, and adds to the knowledge pool.

Dry joints at the ECU connector or the terminals at the body connector end?

No problems with my system at moment other than about 20l/100 km in short runs stop start to and from Sydney CBD

I thought wires for ECU's had to be crimped as solder can change a voltage value by up to a whole 1.5v.
But glad you got it sorted :)

Wonder if this is my issue too. Did your LPG sensor/switch in the cabin flash different colours randomly and throw the wrong gas level intermittently? My car doesn't stall, but it misfires like there's no tomorrow some days on gas - worse when the AC is on or steering wheel full lock.
