I did a google site search for this, but couldn't find a post detailing a problem similar to mine.

Currently, my drivers side window is UP and will not wind down. Its not loose, and it hasn't dropped. Mechanically it feels good.... aside from the fact it just doesn't move.

Not wanting to break anything, or dismantle more than I have to, I have only done a few cursory checks.

I'm getting power to the switch assembly. The driver's side window switch "clicks" like there's potentially a relay inside of the switch assembly? Its making the same/right sounds as the other window switches is what I'm trying to explain here.

This might be my imagination, but I'm sure I can hear a "clicking" somewhere else in the door when I operate the driver's side window switch. But, this secondary clicking is intermittent hence why I feel it may be my imagination.

This problem first reared its head a few week ago when the driver's window seemed to stop responding to the switch. It came good almost as quickly as I figured out it was a problem, so I wrote t off as nothing.

All of the other windows are operating fine. Sunroof also operates fine. No other electrical issues. No recent mods or hacks done to the car. It doesn't get driven all that regularly though. Car is kept in a shed, out of the weather.

Is this indicative of a dead regulator, or something else?

Yes, dead motor.

If you take the door card off and give the motor a sharp tap with a hammer, it might start working again temporarily.

May be a two day - or two year fix.

If it keeps happening, you'll need a new assembly.

Same symptoms for what I had - if you hit the regulator with a hammer it might come good for a few months. Eventually you will need to get a new regulator - just make sure if is a new replacement one and not second hand.

Front windows stay up when failing...rear windows drop down in the door and go bang.

Well, this feature wasn't in the brochure. :/

Yes, you will probably replace all four eventually. I've got one to go! However easy and not that expensive.

At least everything else just seems to keep going. Major failures are very rare.

Well, I hit it with two kinds of hammers and three swear words. She's stuck. Also, it's getting hot from the half hour of trying to get a response using the window switch.

Looks like I'm about to be initiated in the art of 380 window regulator replacement.

Thanks for the hints and positive feedback everybody.

Is common unfortunately, sometimes a nudge frees it for a while, sometimes not

I have them in stock if you need one, ours are the revised units and should not give issues in the future
