Hey everyone, noticed that the car was not getting cold with air con so i got it re gassed. The auto electrician noticed the Fan closest to the battery, which i presume from what i have read is that master, is not engaging so there is not airflow over the condenser ( ? ) Anyway he did a quick test by removing the relay and shorted it and the fan engaged, he then used some sort of probe to test if there was an electrical signal being sent to engage the relay. He apparently said there wasn't. But what else is there in the circuit? I think the fuse is ok as the fan engages. Any help or suggestions would be good before i have to get the electrician again and pay him even more :P

My understanding is the large fan to the right viewed front on is the radiator fan( 5 blades). the smaller unit on the left is the condenser fan(4 blades). The moment the A/C is on that condenser fan runs.
Can't help but wonder what sort of techs are working on this. was it ever cold after the regas? Is the compressor clutch engaging when the A/c is on.

Hi, ok so from the start: Air con was re gassed and during testing it was noticed that the master fan on the right as you stand in front of the engine was not engaging as to assist the condenser fan. The confessor was getting quite hot. The condenser fan did all it needed too. The relays have been tested and seem to be ok for the master fan. The master fan lo fan relay was shorted and engaged assisting the condenser fan and helped quite a bit. Something is not telling the master fan to engage so I'm thinking there is a sensor / thermostat somewhere in the circuit that may need testing or replacing ?

Does it turn on in traffic?
The fan on the passenger side goes on for A/C and it is also the primary fan for when the coolant temps rise, so it should turn on if you let the car idle long enough. Maybe this will help diagnose the error.

yep, apologies. Both my fans spin with a/c on, when off the passenger side 5 blade is off but spins when the coolant gets hot enough.

just having a look at the schematics, looks like the signal comes from the ECU .
