hey guys

I've developed a massive oil leak. I'm not sure where it's coming from. But it's basically almost pouring down. As far as i can see it's leaking onto the power steering pump. I'm not sure what's above it. Any ideas would be good. It's also definitely engine oil.

The service manual doesn't really help with what's above the steering pump. Is there a return hose of some sort??

Most likely the cam seal leaking due to blocked breathers and the rear head pressurising

thanks for your reply.

i checked the cam seals... and i don't think it's coming from there.

are there any welsh plugs that hold oil? the leak is bad. I lost the whole sump of oil in 10kms.

That's an oil gush not leak, as Madmagna said - it sounds like the crankcase is pressurizing and pushing the oil out somewhere with that size leak it shouldn't be hard to clean it up and run the car a bit to find the hole.

A quick clean with degreaser wouldn't go astray, after which it should be fairly easy to locate the place where it's coming out.

MadMagna was right. The oil leak ended up coming from the cam seal.

which breathers are you speaking of? The hoses from the cam covers are clean and not blocked.

When i recently did a oil change. I used Liquid Moly engine oil resealer. Maybe that softened the seal too much, which led it to fail.

Well there is your issue, that Liquidmoly is rubbish

Only way to re seal an engine is to replace what is worn

There is a hose which goes between the rocker covers which gets blocked, this will cause rear bank to pressurise and blow out seals as has happened to your car

the breather hose, is that the hose that runs on the gearbox side, above the distrubitor to the front bank? I replaced that hose a couple of months ago.
