For the time being i've decided to paint my front dash instead of hydro dipping next year ill probs hydro dipp. Usually you use a clear coat to stop fading scratches etc is clear paint good enough for interior use

What magna do you have and the parts of the dash needing painting
No
That bunnings product doesnt like it will do the job
its a turps based product
unless you find the correct sealing coat for the dash parts
the plastic compounds used in interiors today may react with that product
10 years I could have introduced you to a member of this forum who painted his magna
in enamel- turps based ... inside and out.... black and white ...

Painting the dash pieces are easy, a plastic primer, then I always recommend satin to match the factory plastics and hide imperfections instead of the gloss. If you go to an automotive supplier most of the time in an aerosol you will be using acrylic, acrylic is good, however it does not set as hard as an enamel (which are what export paints, killrust, quit rust etc are), acrylic is still good to use as if you want to cut and polish it back after a while you can.
Now if you go a solid colour you do not need clear, clear will help, but if you use acrylic you can wet sand it and polish it to remove imperfections anyway, however it is easy to cut and polish acrylic clear over solid colours too.
What ever you do, don't use acrylic over enamel paints as the solvent used in acrylic will react with the enamel, you can do it vise versa however.
If you want to paint door trims or the actual dash VHT make a product called Vinyl dye, it's design the penetrate the vinyl that comes factory in the magna however it's too soft a paint to use on hard plastics which would be your dash pieces and newer cars with hard plastic interiors.

Stuff I used for my grab handles and visors was Duplicolour vinyl/fabric paint from SCA, doing the job, hasn't peeled, cracked or faded.
