Hi, I am going to wire up my dash cam to a spare socket behind the glove box and hide the wires up to the screen, i did the same on my previous car, I want to piggy back the wires from the existing socket via a fused link, however there is no power to my front power socket, can anyone tell me if has a seperate fuse or is it in the fuse box under the bonnet?

Did you check for power with the car key inserted?
From memory, the jack inside the centre console bin is powered continuously from a hot bus, but the one in the dash below the radio only works with the key in "accessories".

Thanks for your suggestion, I just went into garage and checked with key in all positions, and no voltage, however the one in the armrest is as you said and is on without the key in the ignition, I have a workshop manual on CD but I looked the other day but couldn't find a listing or a view of the fuse box ??.

First things first then is to check all the fuses.
Next is to pull the radio out and check if the front socket is actually plugged in behind the dash.

I took the radio out but all seemed OK ? I have checked all the fuses ! Did find on my workshop manual that there is a relay that controls accessorie socket , it says it is under dash panel drivers side I'm guessing somewhere near fuse box,so I guess that's where to look next ??.

Hey I'm about to try again to get the power onto the front socket, when you say check it is plugged in behind the dash, do you mean behind the radio or somewhere near the fuse box under dash?? I did some research on workshop manual and most I could find was that it said the front socket was controlled by a relay! Drawing of placement was obscure but it looked like it was in a block lower drivers side panel , all I can see under there is the banks of fuses ???
There should be relays below the fuses.
pull the plastic cover off the end of the dash at drivers right foot.
just below the ventilation grill....it says pull ...LOL

Hey I found the relays after printing out a page off my manual on CD, I turned key to accessory and I felt the relay click
I'm presuming the power is OK up to that point, so tomorrow I'm going to backtrack the blue and white wire from the accessory socket
I believe it' should route back to terminal 4 on underside of relay socket ? I'll report back with my findings !!,

Had another look today still couldn't find the problem, I think the easy way out is to substitute another switched live feed to the the socket and do it that way ??.

Try swapping the relay with another to be sure not a dud relay - even though it clicks contacts could be faulty
