Just have a quick question about the differences between the externally mounted tx valve on the evaporator on the TL/TW compared to the internally mounted one in the evaporator on the earlier 3rd gens.
Is it possible to change the evaporator unit on the earlier models(TE-TJ) to one from a TL/TW?
just asking if it is possible to change the evaporator unit itself not the whole aircon system from the TL(i dont fancy the knobs)

As I said to you earlier, no you can not just change little bits, has to be the whole system as it is a very different system in the early (TJ and earlier) and the TL
It is all or nothing with these systems

yep got it, just wasnt sure if you thought i was trying to do a full TL conversion using my looms(ie TL climate control conversion using KF looms) or just the evap unit on its own, which is all i really wanted due to tx being on the outside. Hopefully this will help others who have thought about doing something similar.
what got me curious was when I compared the KF evap to the TL evap, the only difference between them i could see was the TX valve on the inside vs on the outside. both sensors plugged into the box looked the same. I even pondered what would happen if i transplanted the sensors(the spikey white one and the wire on the otherside) from my box over to the TL evap....
But yea big gap between KF and TL so kind of expected things would be different, so not as easy as I thought. Im guessing the earlier systems are designed to use an internal tx valve only? im curious as to how they utilize them as i didnt see any plugs on the tx valve itself which is what first lead me to believe that the boxes were interchangeable.
Anyways ordered all the o rings, receiver/dryer and condenser(all from my VIN), combined with the evap i got from you the system will be getting an overhaul. Just glad I asked about this first. Thanks.
