Hey Guys,

So i was driving home on Friday from work and half way home my brakes feel weird , its still pulled up ok but then i could push the peddle to the floor ,

So i pull over into a servo , check the master cylinder was at a little above half way , i top it up , pump the brakes felt better , started driving within 100m it was the same ,
(i could still break , just not lock up)

So i baby it home , speak to a mechanical workshop two doors down from my place (never used them before, didn't want to drive the car to far with shit brakes) we speak our guesses are that its either the master cylinder or brake booster as i book it for them to look into and sort out on Monday.

Monday comes drop it off and they call me around 2pm and tell me that my drivers R/H Drivers side brake hose as been cut and defiantly doesn't look like its warn through. Pretty shocked by this as i cant think of anyone who would do that to my car ,

They tell me they hope to get the new hose in later that arvo and install and bleed the system and should be done by 5-5:30pm ,

They don't get the part in and let me know it will be ready tomorrow (today)

at lunch i hadn't heard from them so i give them a call and they tell me that the hose they got in didn't fit and maybe my car has had the front end changed / different calipers and should have the correct hose in this avro and have the car ready for me.

I'm failry sure the brakes on the car are standard as i changed the rotors and brake pads myself within the last 12 months and i simply ordered off the part numbers i found online and had no issue with fitting.

Basically my question is , is the brake hose the same for Magnas as Verada's? and should this be a difficult part to source?

Should be the same, I think.
Maybe they were sent the wrong part?
Look at the damaged hose, deliberate cutting will be easy to detect. If so, park offstreet and/or install a security camera.

Yeah im very curious to see the hose will be asking to see it and be taking a photo , i don't have any enemy's and cant think of anyone that would do this ( i know everyone says this) , car is parked in the driveway and got a German Shepard that lets us know if anyone is near the front of the house,

Yeah if they were sent the wrong part why not just say that instead of going on about not having standard parts on my car witch im 100% sure is BS as i service the car myself and have done direct work on the brakes.

Ill post a pic of the hose when i get the car back,

Yes the BRAKE (not break) hoses are the same for all single piston calipers

I doubt anyone bothered to cut your brake lines, more likely something flicked up and you were unlucky as if someone cut the line then you would have had bad pedal from when you started the drive, not halfway down the road

That is not a clean cut, either road debris have hit that or has split due to age.

Yeah that was my thinking also after looking at it in better light.

It is also possible to damage them whilst changing pads and rotors.

Wow, that's unlucky and potentially nasty! I've often thought the hoses were a bit vulnerable, like maybe a bit of braid mightn't be a bad thing, but never actually seen one damaged in normal driving (I agree it's accidental).
