Hi I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue to mine, every now and then I get what looks like very cold air coming out of the centre vents, to describe it better it looks like someone's breath in a very cold place!!, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with heat and humidity, I live in Cairns so wondered if this was a normal occurrence ? Obviously the aircon is set to coldest setting !

If it's set on the coldest setting, I'm not surprised the air coming out is "very cold".

The hotter it is, the harder the compressor is having to work. If it's to cold, then turn it up a few notches or put the windows down

Its just condensation from the humidity in Cairns. I used to live in Malaysia and my air con in various cars did this, even if the air con didn't work very well!

A few years back, my airvents started doing this - Turned out to be leaking heater core seals. Admitedly, this was in winter.
But if there is a smell associated with it then you may want to lift up your front passenger side carpet & see if there is any coolant leaking underneath also - all indicative of leaking heater core.

That initial fog from the aircon vent is actually a good sign, it means your A/C is in good condition.
The cold air hits the warmer, moist air inside the car and causes an instant fog. It looks like the fog is coming from the A/C, but it is just moisture in the air inside the car being hit by the cold air.

Moisture from the hot air being cooled normally condenses on the cold evaporator in the dash, then dribbles out of the tube pointing at the ground.
Have a look under the car when you park it after using the A/C and you will see a nice puddle.

My old house split system did that when I used the Jet Cool mode. It pumped out a massive amount of fog which lands on the floor like a cool fog machine. Anyhow, your's should be climate controlled so there is no need to have it set on the coldest setting. The temperature of the air coming out in the cold mode does not vary that much between the set temperatures. It is a guide for the system to switch off when the room temperature reaches it so setting it to 15degrees will cause your AC to run continuously as it will take struggle to reach that on a hot day.

Thanks for the heads up guys ! I had a feeling it was something to do with the high humidity we get here in the tropics !
It never usually does it when I'm on my own in the car, I set it to 22deg , unfortunately my better half insists on it being set at lowest it will go,grrrr the only thing I'm not so keen on is the fact that there is no way of turning off individual vents ?
