I got yet another new car today in the form of a 1995 maroon 3.0ltr 4speed auto TS Executive magna and was looking at the engine and it looks weird to me. If i'm right these cars are a boxer style setup?. It appears to have the gear box side by side with the engine. Am i seeing what i think it is or is it i'm just unfamiliar with these engines. Also the air flow meter. If I am to put a k&n filter on, do i need the computer re-maped to cater for the new flow??. Is it rare to find a compleatly spotless engine in these cars? Last but not least, are performance exhausts for these cars in abundance? or will it be a bit of a custom job?.
Any or all answers will be great.

Welcome to the forum.
1. The engine is not a boxer (aka porsche or subaru). Its a 90 degree v6 formation. Boxer
formation is horizontally opposed, e.g. 180 degree apart.
2. The transmission is on the side of the engine because its a front wheel drive vehicle not a
rear wheel drive vehicle where the transmission is behind the engine.
3. The computer does not need to be remapped after installing a pod. Just make sure you get
the K&N pod filter designed for the mitsu air flow meter.
4. Exhaust wise, fit the lukey lr2779 2.5" straight through. Its OEM.

Thanks. That clears it up alot for me. With the exhaust you mentioned, i take it that that's the one you have?? If so what is a fair price to be paying for it and the installation?

yeah the engine is just a v6. Just looks weird when you look at it for the first time coz you dont often see a v6 in front wheel drive format. I think its looks cool though, especially since it sez v6 on the rocker cover, which you can see as soon as you open the hood.

I have that same muffler, it's great, no drone and quiet at idle, but a nice roar when you give it the boot.
I got that muffler and a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back system for $490 but that's the higher end of the price scale, you can get it cheaper.
