The exterior of my 380 has been going downhill in recent years. The clear coat is peeling in a few areas, there are lots of scratches and there are swirls everywhere from the occasional automatic car wash. It hasn't had a wax in years -the paint is dull and most of the time the car is filthy!

After a good wash and clay, today I pulled out the random orbital and tried some Scholl Concepts s20. I was looking forward to trying it as the manufacturer claims '1 step' paint correction. The results were terrific! Even some of my deepest scratches are gone - and where the clear coat was peeling it looks much more blended with the rest of the paint. I also used it on the headlights and they look better (the corners looked a bit faded).

After the Scholl I added 2 coats of Cquartzs - that will make it easier to wash in the future and hopefully minimise swirls. The paint on the 380 is incredibly soft and thin - needs a lot more care than I have given it in recent years.

Here are the results

BEFORE - SCRATCHES AND SWIRLS ON EVERY PANEL SOME DOWN TO CLEAR COAT

Sure no worries. I get all my stuff from www.waxit.com.au

If you want to keep costs down you can use a different wax or other protectant instead of a coating like Cquartz. I applied it to my Audi 6 months ago and love it. The coating means I don't need to apply anything to the car for at least 12 months - just basic washing is all that is needed. I have also found my Audi needs less washing with the Cquartz and when it does - it is quick and easy . Take a look at some Youtube videos on the Cquartz - it really is a terrific coating and much cheaper than something like Opticoat.

The s20 only comes in a 1kg bottle which is enough for at least 2 cars.

In addition to the above products I used a clay bar, some Iron X contaminant remover (not critical to use IMO).
