Hello everyone. I am new to the forum. So sorry if this is in the wrong section. I just recently bought myself a 2002 executive. Not sure if its a s1 or 2? Built 5/02. Anywho
This is a little bit of a read. It might help someone out?
So today is xmas day. What a better day to do some work on the magna!
Ok the tools you will need for this job are
1x 10mm spanner or a 10mm socket/rachet
Philips head (star) screwdriver
Flat blade screw driver
Pliers
Electrical wire
Electrical tape
Electrical connections or soldering iron etc
Thats about it really.
Step 1.
Remove the cover ontop of the grill by removing the black plastic screws. They can be a pain in the ass. If you have trouble getting the screws to start threading out, slide a flat blade screw driver under the plastic screw holder to apply some pressue. Dont worry if you break them. You can pick them up cheap from autobarn or supercheap etc.

Step 2.
Removing the grill. There are clips holding the grill in place. All you need to do is using a screw driver, place the end in the hole and push against the tab. Then geltly pull that section of grill. Once they are all poped out. Remove the grill. It can be a little tricky but patience is key :)

http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_174121_zpszcm6gofp.jpg
Grill should now be out. And you will have this
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_175031_zpsqyfx70ol.jpg
Step 3. Removing the headlight bolts.
Remove the 4x 10mm bolts that are shown in the image below. They are all 10mm.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_175648_zps2nwy75kg.jpg
Step 4. Removing the washer bottle.
To remove the washer bottle all you need to do is remove the 2x 10mm bolts at the top. Once they are out, lift the washer bottle and disconnect the plug to the washer pump. (Push the clip in, then pull gently). Now depening on how full the washer bottle is you can either just move it out of the way or unplug the hose from the motor and remove it completely. Just be ready to put your finger over where the hose connects or there will be a mess :).
Step 5. Removing the indicator.
First you will need to remove the indicator retaining spring.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_180640_zpsyojpygud.jpg
This is very simple. Just pull on the spring and you will see how it comes off.
Next you need to jimmy the indicator out. I used my fingers to pry it out. Unplug the connection and it's out!
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-12-25%2018.10.34_zpsymkgchoq.jpg
Step 6. Removing the headlight
You should now have something that looks like this on the side of the headlight.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_181652_zpsxvxd8mla.jpg
Remove the screws as above. Now the headlight should be loose and almost ready to remove.
Step 7. Disconnecting headlight loom and removing headlight
Now you will need to remove the wires going to the headlight. Using your fingers. Place them around the connecton and wiggle it free from the headight globe. They can be tough. Just be careful not to break anything.
There should be 3 connections to undo. Parker, low beam and high beam.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_182755_zpswcsgwnpf.jpg
Now its time to remove the headlight :)
The easiest way i removed mine was by grabbing from the radiator side and opening it like a book. See pictures below. You may have to give the light a bit of a tug so it unclips from where you removed the bolts earlier. You wont break anything just be mindful.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_184001_zpswnuumnhr.jpg
Woohoo now the headlight is out! Now the annoying part begins!
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_190048_zpsb1aga7rb.jpg
Step 8. Removing the indicator metal surround.
This is the best picture i have of it. The red arrow is part of rhe surround and the blue arrow is the bolt that needs to be undone to remove the surround. You will know when you see it.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_190626_zps57vtuvik.jpg
It is a 10mm.. like everything else. Once this is undone, remove the metal surround.
Once that is removed the new light can be installed!
I started the drivers side first. And putting the light back in was a little annoying as it didnt have enough room to slide in. The passanger side on the other hand was easy as can be. Slid straight in!
"IF"you encounter the same problem i did, these steps are what i did to install it. If not, keep scrolling as we are not finished yet!
Start by removing these.. u guessed it! 10mm bolts. Then bend the plastic out of the way so you have a gap to fit a hand into.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_191905_zpsmypohjkv.jpg
Now time to lay down! Find where the end of the bumper meets the guard and undo the 10mm screw!
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_192320_zpshhyvaxcy.jpg
Next there are bolts under the bumper at the very bottom.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_194644_zpsb8crlccj.jpg
Dont worry about undoing the screw. I didnt need to.
Now there should be enough flex in the bumper to slip the light in! Just grab the end of the bumper and bend it down as you slip in the headlight. MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT THE INDICATOR PLUG BEFORE SLIDING THE HEADLIGHT!!
Now just put back in the 4x 10mm bolts that held the previous headlight in.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_195933_zpslyevdzxw.jpg
now you can put the screws back in the bumper and the light is in!
Now this is the part i think some people have had issues with. Wiring. But it is very straightforward and simple. Let me show you.
Start by plugging back in the highbeam and the parker plugs. The highbeam has 2 wires and the low beams have 3. Incase you get them confused.
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_200620_zpsjbqsl923.jpg
Now test that the indicator and parkers/ highbeam work.
Now with the low beam. What you need to do is find the solid red wire, ( it is only red with no stripes etc) once you find this you need to cut it as close to the harness as reasonably possible. Once it is cut, strip the wire that is coming from the headlight connection. Now you need some wire to attach to it ( solder, electrical clip, twist and tape lol ) you will then be running this to the body or an earthing point. I used the horn mount bolt as my earthing point on the drivers side. If this all sounds confusing, check out the picture below
http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q603/Lach_Down/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151225_202037_zpsosuw7y19.jpg
The blue arrow wire must be taped off so it does not touch anything. The red arrow wire is what gets earthed to the car.
Once this is done test the lights!
Once all the lights are in and everything is working, make sure you get the grill clips from the other headlights if they are in there and re insert them into the grill. Align the grill and push it back in. Then put the grill cover back on and make sure the bonnet closes nicely. Then.... stand back and admire the sexy new lights!
