Hi guys, the TP is an auto EFI. 1990 Mar. build.

On start up it is revving to 1800 or so. Only started this in the last two days. No maintenance done to effect this. This is unusual because it has never done this previously. I somehow get the feeling the two issues are related.

Also when I'm doing about 40ks and am in second, and slowing down, it feels like it's changing down into first, then it changes back to second.

No other abnormalities in driving or changing up or down. Though it is making a bit of a rattle in second on acceleration. Not bad but it's noticeable.

Thanks again boys.

1800 ..... should be about 850 at most at start up 1000 then drop to 850

two seperate issues there

undo the battery terminals for a minute to reset the tranny computer and the ECU ..might help the lot

check the tranny oil level.... when hot ... in park ....engine at idle

if no better

unusual changes 1 to 2 could be the TPS ..that is adjustable

high idle at start up
a vacuum leak
the idle stepper motor

info

i know your finances are restricted
tranny oil thins over time .... best changed yearly
if the tranny pan had a drain plug i would suggest a DIY tranny oil change
its the type of pan you have to undo all the bolts to to drain it and change the filter

Thanks for this MB, will do.

Oils good. Only done 16K ago. Am about to whack a Risilone into it. Did it with the last trans. and it worked well.

What is the TPS?
Can the Idle Stepper motor be adjusted or does it have to be replaced?

brisbane northside

TPS is at the front of the throttle body has a ohmn setting to reach

it controls the butterfly in the throttle body

the part listing for the TP EFI.. TPS .carby and TR/TS ones are way different

http://www.cyberspaceautoparts.com.au/contents/en-uk/d3495_Mitsubishi_Throttle_Position_Sensors.html

without a ohmn meter

i just set both adjustment screws right in the middle between the ends of the slots

if no better I make small adjustments for improvement

if no better i fit another one

idle stepper motor is a replace if it doesnt work ......now they call it and idle speed motor

.to test it . is a visual thing

.undo the plate holding it . keep it wiring to it connected

.. it has to retract as you start the engine

and trust me you do not want to know the asking price of a new one

Nah, Ive done a conversion, a tr astron into an sb l300 with engine managment, tp intake manifold with tr TB and have a left over TB here and as the tp intake was given to me I was thinking I'd give sunrise boy the TPS or IAC .but I didn't wantto give it to someone that was too lazy to test these things so I asked if he has. Then I would have offered.
