This is probably nothing but I noticed that there is a little staining of what looks like fuel colour around the injectors at the bottom where they enter the engine. This may have happened in some previous maintenance work for all I know but is this normal? Can they weep slighlty over time? I also notice some kind of small round gasket or rubber ring seal around them, do they ever need maintenance?

What colour do you consider the colour of fuel in this instance?
If you have degreased/washed down the engine at some point it could be residual dirt/staining.
The o-rings are serviceable, if they are deteriorated or leaking, or the injectors are being serviced; but I wouldn't consider leaking injectors a overly common occurrence.

They can weep over time but unless the stain is bigger than a 50c piece I wouldn't worry about it.
Each injector has 2 "O" rings, I think, and should be replaced whenever you pull one out, but I've never bothered.

You could replace all of the "O" rings on your engine for peace of mind, if you are so inclined.

The stains look slightly reddish or dark and surround the injectors.
About a 20c piece spread on a couple. I'll try and get a photo.

They lookike they've seeped from the injectors, but maybe an engine degrease has released some of the dye thats accumulated over a long time and its spread and dried. Maybe someone removed them at some stage and they dripped fuel? I have wiped one clean so i can monitor it.

Seen stains like that. It may just be lube from when the injectors were removed and replaced last time, seeping out.
But clean it and monitor it, as you say.
