What would cause both number plate lights not to work? 2005 S2 VRX. It's not the bulbs as I tried a few different ones. All my other lights are working. Are they on a seperate fuse? Any help appreciated.

Or corrosion on the plug

My TJ did that. No power at the globes - checked with multimeter - check for power and work your way back to the plugs.
If no power at the globe contacts, but you do get voltage across the globe socket + to a good earth, check the earthing on the wiring.

I will check the earths. I thought all my lights were working but I also have no reverse lights either.
I would check the loom connector under the carpet of the boot if reverse is also out.

Check for power at the plugs, some will tell you to use the MUTTIII to diagnose but ignore them :)
Pretty much what you need to do is back track to each plug point until you find power as you have already checked fuses

Reverse lights have being fixed. Was the switch on the gearbox.
So plate lights are a seperate issue. Will have to check power and earths with a test light I think. Do the 380 earths bolt under the rear bar? Do I have to drop the bar to check these?
Thanks for all the help so far.

It is an earth issue if I earth the black wire the light up so power is there. I just can not find where the earth points are on the 380. I follow the wires back to the front of the car but no luck in finding anything obvious.

Earth will be close to the lights themselves.
The licence plate lamps run off the LHS (passenger side) combination lamp fuse and ground to the same ground point. In fact, the RHS combination lamp also ground to the same ground point. This is ground point number 7. It is located near the rear left hand wheels speed sensor and rear left speaker.

I can not see any ground point in that area. Do you have a pic for me to try and locate it?

Hope that helps.

Yes that helped alot. I found the earth point and all 4 wires are intact and earthed. The earth wire must be broken somewhere along the line.
